ECW: New Kings Foote update 2/7
« on: April 12, 2016, 09:50:23 AM »
Been off the brushes since November, so have used a re-paint/touch-up to get my eye in.

Cheers, dont know where they came from as it was a 2nd hand purchase. The guy in the breast plate looks like a Perry, sculpt but for who? The green chap looks a bit like a Foundry figure... or maybe Warlord Games. Sorry not much help there...

First look at this period, I'm not that familiar with who makes what.

Very nice. The figure on the left is Perry ECW and the figure on the right is Foundry TYW.

Cheers Paul.

Well there you go, I guessed right. I suspect we can usually tell manufacturers and sculptors work apart, I didn't know that Perry's had an ECW range, companies and sculptors have a certain style and that chap in the breast plate had "that" look about him... of course it could have been just as likely, I suppose, that the Perry's may have sculpted the green chap too although I have know idea what figures they did for Foundry... he just happens to look like the style Foundry went/goes for..

just musing

The Perry twins sculpted the Foundry TYW range and also sculpted the Foundry ECW range too. Both were sculpted, I think, in the 80s. Your left-hand figure is, however, a Perry Miniatures ECW figure, sculpted much more recently.

The stuff from foundry is sold in this new company of foundry, I think.

Lovely characters both. I love the one in green - must be a bastard descendant of Sir John Falstaff!

Whenever I see that right hand figure I always think that, facially at least, it has a look of Gustavus. I'm not sure whether it's my imagination or whether others see it too.

Some more officers to control the riff raff, some pike-ish riff raff and a dude on a horse to give dodgy orders to his juniors and toff about a bit in a flouncy shirt  :D

Pikemen are from Foundry, dude on horse (Prince Rupert) from Warlords and the others, I'm guessing, are Foundry

Testing out the basing (Baroque) for the first regiment of foote (Henry Tilliers) ;D

I've decided, after trying out a few layouts, I'm short one pike man and a flag waving dude. I'll paint up one more regiment and then have a couple of days basing up.

Few more photo's on my blog here http://paintpigdave.blogspot.com.au/

I love to see ECW stuff- very inspiring. Tillier's regiment was the first ECW minis I painted.

Thanks for your comment, I have enjoyed touching up these figures, I have little idea of who or what Henry Tillier was, (well OK I have looked him up on google now). These are preloved figures for a war and period I have never gamed, I sorted the figures out by coat colour and then did a quick search to find a Royalist regiment that suited  :D

In reality I would like to paint a balanced section Hoptons army of the south but I dont really know where to find the info, I have got dribs and drabs of unit and oob details but nothing concrete.

Looking forward to getting a few more units set to rights and then a couple of days of basing!
