Reed's thread of all things fantasy
« on: 16 April 2016, 12:26:38 PM »
Hello fellow LAFers.
After nearly a year lurking on this forum and enjoying the beauties shared in here, it was time that I contributed to the community. I could have waited until having better photos to show you, but I decided that the sooner, the better. Plus, having to keep this thread going will serve as a motivation.
For the moment, I don't have any specific ruleset in mind for the miniatures shown in here. That will come up eventually.

I will start with my most recent miniatures: some goblins from Crooked Claw's latest crowdfunding. Very characterful sculpts and a joy to paint, though I wouldn't complain if they wore a bit less armour. These have also confirmed how much I despise painting studded leather, but that's a minor inconvenience.

I have four more goblins left, and a night goblin wizard from Citadel that will join the ranks.

The Little Green Guys are BEAUTIFULLY painted. Your flesh tones & color choice are WONDERFUL. VERY WELL DONE!

Thanks for the kind comments guys. These figures are something like my exhaust valve when I'm tired of painting my Infinity ones.
Here's one that I forgot to add to the initial post, a cultist. Originally a Gripping Beast monk, the face didn't ressemble anything like a human face, so I decided to experiment. Cut the face off and sculpt a mask in its place.
The paintjob was inspired on the Mythic Dawn of the game "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion"

Some may recognize this figure as I previosly showed it on the Pulp board.

I really like that wizardy guy and the little details on his shoulders :-)

This week I bring you two more goblins to join ranks, equipped with fearsome two-handed weapons (some even are unsure that these goblins can even wield them).
Once again, the photos might not be great, but trust me that these are the best that I have managed to get in my current conditions. I need more lights   :`

Mang, these are amazing. Such neat miniatures with such neat paintjobs.

Not sure I've gotten used to clear bases yet, but in this case it does look pretty nifty.

Coming from you, these words are truly encouraging. Your thread is one of my favorites in all LAF.

I've finally managed to take better photos, thanks to a digital camera that was lying around the house, another lamp with a LED bulb and a sheet of grey cardboard I bought the other day.

As a captive of the goblins, Snorri now had plenty of time to think about his poor life choices...

Enter the shieldgoblin ! 6 out of 8 miniatures from the crowdfunding painted !

Credits to Lt. Hazel, whose tutorial for battle damages on shields (on the "How to.." section) I tried to emulate. For the first time it's ok, but the next will come out better.

I've finally painted the remaining goblins from Crooked Claw's latest crowdfunding:

I'm afraid I've rushed a bit painting these two. Painting armor and metals is not my favorite thing.
Here they are in all their rubbly glory:

More to come !

What a nice collection  :D Now you just need an adventurer or two for a neat little mini-scenario  :D

I need to find the room in my budget to get these miniatures. They're so cheap and so good!
