Those new falcons really aren't an improvement on the old ones are they? But great paintwork none the less.

The vehicle upgrade bits are a nice touch and I like that you can do some deathspinners as well - but the turret is huge and sit really far back.  I think it would look better if I had the Wave Serpent extension on the tank etc.  It's just comically large for the normal Falcon (the body is still the old kit).  Oddly Falcons are tough to come across at most of the online shops.  I'll probably do up a proper Falcon and call it for armour.

And here it is.  The final unit of 2016.  I figured it was good to start and end with Dire Avengers (more to come next year!).

6388 points in 2nd ed. Eldar (without additional wargear cards etc.).  All models equipped WYSIWYG.  The plans for next year are to finish the army with jetbikes (already building them), some Vypers, maybe a Falcon or two, a few more support weapons and eventually a Wraithknight converted into a 2nd ed. Armorcast-stats vehicle of some sort.

Yeah - pretty impressive. Nice colours tying the army together.

I think it's one of the few things which makes painting Eldar relatively easy.  The main army is X, Y and Z colours, and then you get to take a break with the Aspect warriors each having their own scheme.  Add to that the availability of pirates/corsairs/exodites/harlequins and the paint options are pretty endless.

The army looks great! It has been enjoyable seeing the army grow and I look forward to seeing the jet bikes.

And yet...more.  Since I started this army in April, I'll be posting up an actual "year" progress shot when the time comes.

More support weapons.

The first half of my Pirates (they may double as bodyguards since I've decided I'll be doing a White Seer as part of my army too...)

Love those old Guardians/Leaders/Whatever - have most of them, some in more copies. I don't think I ever got the guy with the mask on the helmet, though.

I agree.  There were loads of Eldar models with some serious character, and not all goofy and silly, but some beautiful models.  They've lost almost all of that with modern guardians unfortunately.  I have a few more on the way and there is a giant range of metal bodies I'll never get (the ones with the plastic arm sprues).  A ton of coats, helmets, plumes, baggage, alternate weapons, etc.  I actually didn't like the masked fella until I ham-fisted my way through the paint scheme and it all worked.  I debated not using him.

The nice thing about 2nd ed. pirates for the Eldar is that it allows you to use up any remaining metals you have sitting around since they can all be armed with a variety of gear (it doesn't have to match and you have very few limitations).  I had been iffy about making pirates for a long time, but then I looked an realized I had 10-15 spare metal guardians/heroes/characters just sitting in baggies.  Also these guys will be useful if I choose to play any other sci-fi skirmish games since they're a little less 40K-strict.  I'm actually tempted to get a few aspect warriors and put them in matching colours so I can run a weird Eldar space crew.
