Sentry Duty

I've been working on this project for a while now. Years ago, at Historicon I ran into a guy at the flea market, who had units of 12 painted Old Glory Mounted Kentucky Rifles and some other mounted figures in buckskins. I ended up picking up 3 units ( 36 figures) intending to use them for War of 1812.
Somewhere along the line, I got it into my head that these guys would look great as Over Mountain Men, traveling to Kings Mountain. I cut up some MDF and glued 3 or 4 figures to various shaped stands. I did the usual earth terrain,
planted a few trees and began the final steps. This is the first finished piece.

A hapless Loyalist Sentry is blundered into by an Over Mountain Man scout.
The scout pulls his flintlock and fires. The Sentry is dead before he hits the ground.

I made the tree, the shrubs and did all the terrain work.
I'm delighted with the way this turned out.
It's a cool little snapshot in time. Maybe not so cool for the sentry?

I have about nine or ten more in various stages of completion. I'll post them as I finish them.

These are also the best pictures that I have ever taken. I am learning about Macro settings, ISO and I have a steady place to rest the camera when shooting. Progress!
