Need help finding "Wild/Savage" Elves!
« on: May 12, 2016, 02:59:59 AM »
Hey everybody this is my first thread on this forum so I hope I'm posting in the right section!  ???

I'm in the market for a Song of Blades and Heroes Warband  but I'm having some trouble finding figures for it, the basic theme as you might have guessed is Savage/Wild Elves, a force that mostly unarmored or at least very lightly armored that run into battle screaming from the treeline with all manner of ferocious beasts and were-creatures at the beck and call, acting as a literal force of nature!

My only problem is I'm having trouble finding figures that really fit this concept, a lot of elven miniatures I've found while looking through the various websites listed in the two "Sources for Fantasy Miniatures" threads either come in the stock High or Dark Elf flavors which don't really fit and a lot of Wood Elf miniatures I've found are of the hooded ranger type which isn't what I'm looking for.

Now the GW line of Wood Elves do have some units that fit the look I imagine like the Wardancers,

but I was wondering if anyone knew of other manufactures that did elves in a style similar to those pictured, thank you so much in advance for the help!

If you don't mind somewhat more whimsical/cartoony sculpting, there are (just a few) Arcworlde wild elves.  You could also do conversions from some historical Celt or Zulu models with elf heads.

The Grenadier Fantasy Warriors Wood Elves have a wild look I think, some of them fit in well with the barbarians even.

I'll second Arcworlde. The "Dark Age" post-apocalypse game might have something appropriate, or you could try em4 Miniatures' fantasy stuff - which I believe are connected to the old Grenadier or Mirliton ranges.

Agree about the Arcworlde Elves, the pigmies might make good allies too.

Celtos Sidhe. Cool sculpts, lightly armoured.

Perhaps not "elves" in the GW/Tolkien mold, but if it's feral you're after, you might like Alternative Armies' "Fire Bolg" or Sidhe warriors?

For "Savage" type elves I quite like some of the Tharns from Hordes ( Privateer Press)

Tharn Bloodtrackers

Tharn Wolf Riders

Just checked out the Warploque elves - those do look perfect for the needs of the original post - but it shows they come with a 40mm base so I assume  they are pretty large? The druid would be great for my barbarian horde if its in scale.

No I sold all my Arcworlde stuff on here. But they are very tall and don't really fit with other brands.
Quick google found this scroll down and the elves on the left, makes a 40k space marine look small!

The wild elves are mounted on 40mm round bases if that helps as well.  They have a nice look to them, and if you are using them for a small scale skirmish like SoBH, I imagine they would work just fine as a warband on their own.
