Modelling "cloth"?
« on: January 07, 2009, 09:58:26 PM »
I wanted to make several market/bazar stands for my 15mm Middle East town and wondered if anyone could tell me how to go about modelling something that resembles "cloth" for the market stand awnings? If it was 28mm I'd just go with Black Cat Bases market stalls, but with 15mm I'm kinda on my own as I'm not aware of anyone making something similar in this scale.

Any help would be much appreciated.

thin flannel, towel or kitchen cloth.
cut up into small shapes (bed cloth tents AWNINGS  ;))
stuck to terrain.
painted with base color and glue mixture (to stiffen)
details added

in you case, posibly some yellow stripes or something.

Heavy paper towels like you get in public lavoratories soaked in pva would work as well.

Tomato puree tube foil.
It's what I use to make flags anyway, so reckon it would do for awnings.

Tissues/napkins/toilet paper (anthing absorbent, basically) soaked in white glue/PVA over a frame of wood or wire.

Fragile until the first coat of glue dries, then surprisingly tough.

As Svenn and Wirelizard said. Amazingly, once soaked, the paper towel is suprisingly tough. I did some tents out of it.

I used the white flexible packing material you sometimes get? Don't know what it's called, but looks a bit like synthetic cloth?
