Thanks! I did indeed - I printed some pretty basic infantry a few weeks ago and realised that they still looked really nice painted up, so I was inspired to give it a go. Vac suits are nice and easy too because there’s nothing organic.

Printed on the photon at 0.03 - nice and tough too.

Looking great. I actually really like the base size you're using; avoids the clumping often seen on round or square bases, without being the long super-thin epic bases that leave no room for scenics.

Thanks! I was using 40x30, which look great but recently I’ve started using 40x15 (I think epic were 40x12) - which gives a little room for ‘movement’ on the base, but still keeps it compact.

I do pick smaller or ‘true scale’ 6mm infantry when I can (like Vanguard’s stuff) which helps the base seem more spacious. Same for my designs.

Very cool, love the vac suits! Perfect for a 6mm Moonraker space battle or even the red suited aliens from UFO, perfect retro vibe.

Thanks chief. I’ve iterated on them a bit and now have more poses, some heavy weapons teams and they all have a cooler helmet (with ‘more’ visor - which looks better). Got a whole pile of them primed, based and ready for base coating!

Those astronauts look superb!

Would love to see some prone troops firing their weapons, kneeling and firing, and/or walking and running figures.

Some mortar teams firing would be great too.

Any chance of you making these available for sale?

40mm x 20mm might be nice too, for little diorama effects.

I like the look of your bases as is.

Thanks dude.

*Maybe* - I’ve iterated on them a bit - better helmets - and I’ve added some kneeling poses, some missile launcher teams and some gun teams. I have made the poses a little more dynamic, but I want them to stay robust, so they’re not that dynamic. Once I get them all painted up I’ll see what makes sense as a ‘pack’ then work out a price. Ideally I’d be able to fit two packs to a print bed for it to make sense (or maybe I should look into getting them cast...).

I didn’t think of prone troopers - I’ll have a play with that later.

Here’s the v2 command stand in their base coat - you can see one of the kneeling poses second from right. I think the new helmet visors are better looking.

After the test prints I decided to print the whole army - 5 infantry squads, 2 x missile teams, 3 heavy gun teams and this command squad.

Going with the white and red scheme (I’ve mistakenly painted the helmets red here, now corrected).

Haha not pretty!

I reckon I could take a crack at some slightly pulpy 15mm vaccsuits though - I haven't got the hang of organic sculpting (yet!) but vaccsuits are a good way of avoiding that.

Not yet though - must focus on this project!

You do seem to be making leaps and bounds though, you should see my tries at human shapes in 6mm.  o_o

Thanks!

Some of the first things I started working on when I was learning 3D stuff was 15mm sculpting dollies - they weren’t a success, but it was useful for getting the hang of placing body parts on the right place! I would like to progress to zbrush or similar at some point.

Those look great.

I wouldn't have a problem with two squads per print, or even a whole platoon.

I like the new sculpts (helmets), but actually prefer the early variant over the new ones.  Perhaps you could sell both, since we'll need someone to fight in space.
