These are a lovely little set of rules,we have used them with mins for game set in the Peninsula,Sikh wars and TWI,all the games have been fun and all of us have unanimously given them a thumbs up!
The officer traits and special events give a fun twist to games without dominating events and if a failed roll does occur,they are less likely than in the other Rampant rules,it's easy to come up with a narrative reason for it.
Can't comment on games set in the FIW as none of our group has a collection for that period,however,these are a light set of rules,easy to follow and learn, reasonably priced and a good read to boot!
These are our favourites of the Rampant series so far.

Had a blast playing these two games at Keith's, won one and lost one.
It was a difficult game for the Texans to win with three skirmish units and one line infantry unit, I wouldn't mind trying the game with some souped up shock infantry units and a couple of cheap skirmish units to use as a meat shield (it's the power gamer in me )
I think we've played six or seven games now with Rebels and Patriots, and we haven't had a bad game yet. The rules as Romark says are definitley the best set from the Rampant stable IMHO.
