horrid '47
« on: 28 May 2016, 11:09:32 AM »
I've been anticipating the release of Konflikt '47 since I heard about it early this year.  I was interested in WW2 historical but always felt constrained by history.  Weird War lets me come close to the historical but not be so bogged down in veracity.  What finally motivated me to give it a go was having a look at Chico's thread on his Waffen SS army.  I'd planned to try the same army so took some inspiration and guidance from what's he is up to.

I have a test model pretty much done so I figured I'd post it to get some feedback and determine if it's good to go or back to the drawing board.

Very good, your Camo is much neater/cleaner then mine.

They are going to end up looking great on the table top. :D

Thank you for the kind words.  The first 10 men are very close to done.  I still need to do the fiddly touch ups and I'm debating the need to include most unit markings.  I know the board is based in Germany and laws forbid the runic symbol on the left lapel so so for ease of sharing the project I think I'll let it go.  With that out of the way it's just some final detailing then finishing the bases.

To test the effectiveness of  (and put the weird in the weird war) I painted up Frau Growler.  I went with the classic movie bad guy look for her uniform with quite a bit more emphasis on camp than historical accuracy.  I like the figure and thought she looks her part and should be equally at home in Konflikt '47 or doing duty in a Pulp style game set 10 years or so prior.  The identity of the Waffen SS seems largely in their iconic camo so if Grauler works they all should.  Once I figure out how the game works I will add rank insignia where appropriate.

The first group are all based and ready to go for the time being.  I like how they interact together and solo pics don't seem to do them as much justice.  I think I'm ready to paint up another group and plan to shoot for a smaller set of five; three squaddies and an HMG team.

Apparently Grauler is a double entente.  To save her the shame and me explaining I didn't name the thing we will refer to my SS Intelligence agent by her codename, "Die Bestrogene".  Black Swan compliments her sleek form and grim wardrobe and is a nice (and classier :) nod to Thomas Mann who spoke against the Nazis even in exile.

@Chico

It was a really bad move posting on the BA Int Facebook group.  The conversation drifted (abruptly :) ) from the models I posted to "Graulers" exclusively.  I'm on the other side of the Atlantic so the gaff was lost to me;  I learn something new every day  lol.

Heheh yeah I understand, it's strange how many slang terms find common usage in certain parts but not others.

I called some a ''Silly Bugger'' the other day on a FB group, it's a term meaning a more friendly version of stupid/idiot/fool/mucking around and they took the phrase the whole wrong way.  lol

I finished up the werewolf that accompanies......her  lol.  There are a few more soldiers as well.  The weather has been garbage and the humidity affected the prime.  I went on anyway but I will eventually go back and redo the mg42 team.  Yhe others are passable.
