hi Hobgoblin

yep you got the colour and weapons right. As with runes you could add the darkness, man and magic runes for Kygor Litor or the disorder, death and darkness runes for zorak zoran followers

also, a bit like star trek klingons, there are two eras of depicting trolls, RQ2 were much more like standard goblins and infant many of the early Citadel figures were renamed as goblins...

Thanks! I got an orc-as-dark-troll started the other night and will perhaps finish him tonight. I'll probably go for the man and darkness runes on his shield.

Yes, the very earliest RQ illustrations showed "traditional" trolls with long noses in the Scandinavian style. Citadel seemed to take its lead from those. I'm never sure if the miniatures were RQ trolls first and then ogres and night goblins, or vice versa. I suppose the trollkin slings might suggest that they were trolls first of all. There were snouted trolls in RQ2, but they weren't labelled as such. They were squat, long-armed and rather orc-like - different again from the Trollpak illustrations.

The early Citadel orcs don't quite match the "received" illustrations. But they do match the textual descriptions pretty well: about 7' tall if they stand up straight, slouching, pot-bellied, muzzled, huge fangs or tusks, etc. In that respect, they make much better dark trolls than Tolkien-style orcs. The only problem is a lack of females - I can see a multi-mammarian conversion coming on ...

Trollkin are a bit trickier. The old Grenadier goblins are perfect, but there are only four (I think) in that style (I have three of them)>.

Looking forward to seeing your take on the Trollkin

Looks good to me.
I am debating on how to make some Orlanthi. I am looking at the crusader line and am thinking of snagging some of the Spanish Celtiberian and Lusitanian for some foot Thanes. Convert out some of the heads for the Oscan's, and convert over some of the short chainmail shirts over to bronze plate by seeing If I can most out the holes. Maybe with some putty.

What do you guys think? Also might add some regular Oscans to.

Great thread!
I love your photos of the Lunar vs Bison clan battle. It is always good to see people using original armies.
Super collection.

If your in the US, and after Etruscan models - try Gorgon Miniatures as their range and models are great.
