Gun pictures

One advantag living in the US, at least for now is that we can own the guns that were used in the old west.  Along with my miniature gameing I also shoot in cowboy action shooting.  attached are a few photos of my guns.

The revolvers are Italian copies of the top break Smith and Wesson model 3.  These are in 45 colt, but the originals were in 45 schofield.

And here is another Marlin and a Sharps rifle.  I hope you like the photos.  Now you see Lead (metal) in leadfool refers to both lead figures and lead bullets.

Which Marlin?  The 1894 or the 1895?  The first is in 45 colt the latter in 45-70, as is the Sharps.  The scatterguns are in 12 guage.

It's fascinating to see the variations in the colour of the woodwork. Like many others [I suspect] I tend to use the same shade of brown for all my miniatures' firearms

What fires that insanely long cartridge in the middle of the gun belt?

Or is that two normal cartridges jammed in the same loop for some reason?

The insanely long cartridge in the middle of the gun belt is a round known as a 50/120-3 1/2.  It is a round for a Sharps rifle.  The Sharps rifle I have is the 45/70 which are the other rounds in the belt.  The 50 is a 50 caliber (1/2 inch diameter) bullet, with 120 grains of black powderbehind it and is 3 1/2 inches long.  It is said that when that cartridge came out, the buffalo simply surrendered. 

I have that round in my belt as a half-way marker when reaching for ammo.  Also it looks cool. 

The Sharps copy is made by Pederasoli (Italy), One of the shotguns is by Rossi (Brazil), the other is Chinese.  The revolvers are by Uberti (Italy).  The Lever action rifles are by Marlin (USA).

Kids and criminals and people with firearms certificates (FAC). The lever action rifles are quite OK on an FAC. There are issues with the pistols in the UK due to overall length.
