T'is is why I idolise the Perrys!

You are way too modest Paul :)
Your Napoleonic British tars for Brigade are sublime. I take the liberty of sticking a pic of them in here again, to remind people of how great they are.

Naturally, my hope is that the new Perry models will fit in perfectly - albeit the style will be a little different from your own.

Seconded! They are great.

Like Captain Blood, I'm hoping the Perry's miniatures will fit in nicely with my Brigade and Foundry Royal Navy landing party.

Wonder if they have French counterparts plotted...

That would be nice... British sailors and marines are quite easy to find. The same cannot be said for the French :?
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://tistaminis.com/

one war theater not mentioned in the presentation but suitable for small scale landing actions involving those minis could be Italian Mediterranean coast and islands ...plenty of actions before the battle of Maida..with British troops..frequently Naval ones ..supporting from gunships or landing sailors and marines in help of various Bourbon regular units or, in many cases, irregulars pro Bourbon insurgents..against French, Cisalpine, Polish troops that where fighting a kind of Italian Vendée against bands of Swiss mercenaires, Brigands and militias approaching every possible landing place to be supplied in ammo , weapons ecc..by the Royal Navy

Brigade Games already has very nice French Sailors. Perry's mentioned on Facebook that Legion Nautique would be forthcoming (...someday.)

Another scenario: The attempt on taking the forts at Ferrol (Spain) in 1800.

They are gorgeous. Much creativity in the sculpting and very dynamic.

This pretty much clinches the deal on Napoleon in Egypt for me!

@RedRowan

This is pretty much an ideal period for Skirmish gaming. All types of actions possible including sections of the larger battles, but also more "off-the-books" encounters like raids, patrol actions, Bedouin attacks on supplies and camps, capture of outposts, and even some tomb robbing and archaeological exploration. I'll be using Sharpe Practice for the battles and Song of Drums and Shakos for really small skirmish stuff, possibly adding Songs of Blages and Heroes for fantasy stuff like mummies. The possibilities are boundless really!  :D

Wonder if you could mix in some of the stuff from other ranges, like Zulus or the Mahdi's lot or AWI Indians??!

The RN got pretty much everywhere.

Which details would make them inappropriate for post-1808?

Oh gosh, I really wouldn't worry about it. Do you think anyone will ever be able to tell? ;)  :)

They'd be appropriate for a good while yet, the British navy didn't bring in uniforms for sailors until after the 1840's.

Amazingly cool model!!  :-*

But surely you'd need an empty boat too and then the whole force disembarked on foot. That's a lot of painting!! o_o  o_o  o_o

Bonjour Chaps,

These figures, and the naval landing scenario idea, do raise the bar above the norm for a larger scale common or garden Napoleonic wargamer like me too!

But they are magnificent!!!!

It's one of those occasions when the figures dictate the scenario.

It does remind me that I should finally get around to painting and crewing my Redoubt launch and Britannia frigate.

Cheers,

Paul
