Too those who use sabot basing
« on: 02 October 2016, 07:31:59 AM »
I'm going to start playing chain of command in 15mm and I'm wondering if I should use a three man sabot basing setup or just individually base my infantry.

What has been your experience with these sorts of Bases?

Is it even worth it for a platoon skirmish game?

Well sabot basing is the best of both worlds.  It gives you ease of movement when you are moving several figures at a time but figures can be removed and used individually if required.

Just a thought but I am about to embark on a project using Crossfire rules, but I don't want to restrict my figures to Crossfire.  So I will use sabot bases for three figures.  Three bases in a 'unit', two with three riflemen and the third with the bren, an NCO and a riflleman.  For Crossfire this will be a platoon, for Battlegroup it will be roughly a section and I can choose to use the figures on or off the bases.

How that makes sense and helps.

Sabot basing can be useful in CoC, but as teams within a squad might be three, four, or five figures and that you can split a team in any case, setting 'three' as your universal size can work against you. Making them 'team-sized' to suit individual forces is probably a better option.
