Cow Town
« on: February 09, 2009, 04:08:54 PM »
Hey,
I've spent a while looking for inspiration for a wild west town and I have come to the conclusion that I would really like an ERTL Cow Town after seeing how well it fits in with 28mm figures. However I also discovered that they no longer produce it, gutted. I've found one on ebay but I was just wondering if anyone knew anywhere else you can get them from. I imagine that this has already been covered at some point on LAF so I appologise if it has and I've missed it.
Thanks

Ebay is the only source AFAIK.
Would love one or more sets myself.

Check discount toy stores. I have found all of mine there cheap. Toy Liquidaters belongs to KayBe Toys now. I also found some at a local company in Spokane, WA. They also did a 1920/30s version, the buildings are the same but the signage & accessories are different. I also have a nice ranch house by them. They also do a Pig & poultry yard with sheds & fencing & a big action barn.

Thanks, I've been keeping an eye out but I they seem to me more readily available, but still not that common, in the US than in the UK. I will have one though!!

Mr J.
I was recently talking with an employee at a company in Canada called TSC - which supplies a variety of farm, home and supply storte that regularly stocks Ertl toys. They said that due to an increase in popularity, they are re-issuing a number of the older building sets. I picked up a Western Farm Set just before Christmas which has been re-issued and with a little bit of work, I almost have it completed on the inside to cover up the unsightly connectors using balsa wood, matboard, etc. The barn is perfect in size for 28mm figures and is roughly the same size as the Arnica, Montana buildings. It also comes with fences, longhorn cattle and three turn of the century farm equipment with detachable horse collars. It has a number of other useful pieces as well. If you can wait a little bit, you will be able to get a Westen town set for far less than the prices on eBay. I waited for the Western farm set and I paid less than half price for the starting bids on most of the ones on eBay. Have patience if you can. Good Luck!!

Any chance of some pics when you get it finished?

This is also very cool, they even have a building under construction, something I was thinking about doing myself!

Thanks for all your help

That's fairly easy - you have to host them on a site (like photobucket or the likes), then put the URL of the picture into img-tags in your post.

The tags can be inserted by clicking the 3rd button in the row just above the smilies.
