Katanga Police (?)

 I am busy building forces for Congo 1961 and have come across several images of Katangese with a visor cap, see below. Anyone knows if this is police forces? what could the colour of their uniform be? Khaki? Grateful for any comments, thanks!

From the Belgian National Museum - Belgian Congo Police.  Katanga police probably similar?

They also wore the British WW2 style helmet.Some even wore US steel pot. Heres a great book also.

Thanks Juergen, I think I got my head around the Gendarme kit. It is more the police equipment that puzzled me

I will start a proper thread when I have come a bit further. There will be UN (Swedish, Irish and Ghurkas), Katanga Gendarmes, Police and mercenaries. I will also try to do a few baluba  tribesmen. Right now I am busy doing trenches for Jadotville but I will be back!
