Resin domestic printers are here!
« on: November 15, 2016, 06:32:56 PM »
I've been thinking about getting a 3D printer for some time and I've came across a Kickstarter offering a resin 3D printer able to do this:

More pics here.

Maybe is time we start a thread with all the companies selling 3D designs to print at home...

Resolution probably isn't quite good enough for 30mm scale figures but it would be useful for a lot of other stuff, including larger figures like the ones shown. For comparison the Frosted Ultra Detail stuff from Shapeways is printed at 34um XY resolution.

The Morpheus printer can go down to 25um  ;)

But the printed undead in my first post is printed at 100um, just for reference.

I know you have a coin there for reference but I'm not from the US so I'm not sure what denomination it is :-)

So what is the height of the figure above?

That's a quarter, 1 inch or 2.5 cm diameter.  So that figure is pretty big.

On Z, but not on XY, which is 190, unless I seriously misread something in the project description. Shapeways Frosted Detail material is 26 Z (or 16 for Ultra) and 34 XY. Resin printers always have much better Z resolution because that's just the amount you raise the platform after each layer prints, the XY is where the curing image happens. Not saying the Morpheus is bad or anything, but you aren't going to be cranking out GW quality minis on it.
