"Into The Time Vortex" - Doctor Who Project
« on: 25 November 2016, 07:25:27 PM »
Having finally given in to the temptation of "Warlord Games" Doctor Who range, I've started painting up my first box of Judoon. As a result I thought it'd be fun to set up a thread following the project (especially as more minis are imminent) and see how others are getting on painting these 38mm scale models.

First up are my finished Judoon...

Nice work.  Some lovely minis in that range, although I find myself wishing the Zygons looked more, well, fake.  I grew up with the rubber suit Zygons.

Thanks Hobby Services. I know what you mean. I think the "Black Tree Design" Zygons captured something of that look. But these latest sculpts are very nice indeed - I just wish there were more than two poses.

The Zygons were redesigned in 2013 to look more muscular and threatening and less creepily zygotic.  So Harlequin/Black Tree and Warlord were modelling from different originals - each quite well, I think.
Back from the dead, almost.

Oh sure, and they do look good in their own way.  But (much like Tom Baker will always be the first Doctor I think of) the rubbery low-budget Zygons will always be the ones that come to mind when they're mentioned.

Lovely stuff, Mr Blax!
Thanks Wulfgar22; I'm hoping the "Into The Time Vortex" starter set will be out just after Christmas, and then I can start talking about the rules, as well as posting "Warlord Games" plastic Daleks and Cybermen.  :)
