Pulp Alley Zombie Style
« on: December 01, 2016, 09:32:14 PM »
Yet another Zombie Alley report.  We did a couple of different things from original PA.  We only started with a Leader for one.  The idea was to pick up not only Plot Points but Survivors to add to our league.  One of the Survivors got MVP near the end of the game for blocking a horde with a car and allowing Hardcastle (Leader) to finish up the last Plot Point.  So it was Hardcastle (Swat guy) vs. Nash (Demon slayer/S-Mart employee).  Hardcastle squeaked out a win by one point.

Dawn breaks on a sleepy little town...  Let's call it Innsmouth.

A typical street scene shows us a few bystanders.  Two guys fighting Kung-Fu style in the alleyway, a reporter on his way somewhere and a lady of the night getting held up by gunpoint.

Apparently Trip Advisor spoke highly of this hotel with special rates for the "Life Challenged".

Okay...Maybe Innsmouth isn't so sleepy.

Multiple hordes!  Doh!

This one is heading towards Hardcastle who's working on a federal offense.  Stealing Government files from a mailbox!

Hardcastle works on the mailbox lock while his new friends (Survivors) Cho and Radon (Who was not scared of the Z's at all).  Apparently it was his idea.  Something about a ninth plan?

Hardcastle tries to stop the pimp from harassing his fine, upstanding woman.  He is seen by the horde however.  Radon screeches to a halt plugging the hole with the cop car consequently allowing Hardcastle to concentrate on the last Plot Point.  MVP goes to Radon!  He stays in the car while the horde tries to get him.  He holds out through the last turn and Hardcastle gets the Plot Point!

"They seek him here, they seek him... There he is!"

Lovely scenery, very entertaining.

Where did you get the mat from, it looks brilliant.

Also very impressed with the cars, are the police car and the green and blue cars the Pixar ones?

Sorry for so many questions :D

Love the story.
Look to be a lot of fun.
May I ask, how long did it take to play the game?

Took about 2 hours once we actually started rolling dice but we were adding and figuring out some campaigny sort of stuff.  Also our board is 4x4 so it's larger than suggested in the rules.  Usually if you both know Pulp Alley and your own leagues you can blast out a game in an hour or so.  It's nice to be able to get a couple of games in in an evening especially when there is league growth via experience etc...

We made a couple of slight changes from the basic rules.  One is that in the regular rules a character can only acquire as many skills via exp as his level.  So a follower can only get one level one skill and a leader can get four level four skills.  We've removed the amount limit and only have the level limit.  We figure that if you're dumb enough to give an entire experience point to a mook then have at it.  Also since we're doing MVP awards to the best antic during a game we didn't want to limit a character that already has a skill.  It's all about cinematics and natural consequences:)

(As usual... ;))

I have so far resisted picking up any Pixar broom-brooms but you keep tempting me.

Thanks Mason!  Why have you resisted?  They're scale is perfect for 28's and they're a dime dozen!

Wow never thought of Pixar stuff would be useful for gaming.   o_o

I take it you do mean the Disney Pixar die cast models (about 1:55)...

...and not some other "Pixar" that I wasn't aware of!  :)
