Got a bit more done. I have the well ready for a pseudo-mortar attempt for it, came up with a workable way to get the upper and lower portions of the tower to fit together better than the single piece of wood I'd originally planned on using which wasn't wanting to fit right and stay in place either without messing with things since it wasn't joining things up right. I've also, still, got to black out the interior of the lower portion of the tower since there are some gaps between logs that are far to visible for what I want in the end.

Well, finally got some more done on the watchtower. With the basing for it, the end result is quite a bit larger than I'd expected, but I'm liking the look and the height of it. Still working on the roof for it, so it'll be still taller by the time it's done...

Reaper Bones Minotaur (77031) and Reaper Bones Female Paladin (77302)

For the Minotaur, though, I'd suggest going for the Reaper Cretus, Minotaur (09264) instead of the Bones one, there is a lot of detail lost in the transition between metal and bones...

Thank you very much and nice work on the cabins.

Thank you very much and nice work on the cabins.
The cabin kits best part is that they are pretty much lincoln log kits aimed at modelers and gamers, easy to create interesting things that fit together well.

Sadly I'm British so there's no chance of me getting anything like this.

Anyway, you're being amazingly creative with them, I'd just end copying. :p

Well, got a bit more done.

For the tower, I'm not going to glue everything fully together until I've painted it. The upper tower, lower tower, roof (still working on that), base, door, and banners are each going to be done separately. For the banners, those are going on the exterior of the tower on the sides without the door if my current plans hold, but I'm wavering on if I want the banners on it or not at the moment.

But the tower base is textured and ready for painting now...so only need to get the roof together to get everything together for it.

I put together the frame for the well, but not its roof which will also be painted separately since I want to be able to paint the interior more easily.

I also used some scrap foam to knock out some large rocks that are ready to paint, along with a few of the same round bases I used for the rocks and well that I textured up that are going to have some of the larger ferns on them that I can use for scatter or other options...

I also picked up some more large plywood rounds so that I can get more done for the barn and cellars after I finish these ones

Got a lot done. The rocks, well, and ferns are done. I have the basic frame for the tower roof together and trying to decide if I want the roof to be removable while I work on finishing it. The inside has a basic paintjob but nothing really visible and the windows don't go through the wall  since they're pretty much exterior decorations as closed shutters.

Tried making a weather vane for the tower, it looked decent until the roof slipped and the thing snapped into pieces and crumpled in other places while I was putting some white glue over the card most of the roof is made out of. Replaced the cap of the roof and doused the entire thing in glue to harden it and make painting easier when that dries.

Only one pic this time, the rest of it looks the same, but this is the side that the glue is fully dried on, the other was done after it and is still got large white sections visible.

Finished the roof, leaving it removable for now. Will probably have more pics of the tower at a later point since there were some lighting issues there...

Got slightly distracted from buildings and more normal terrain for the table by way of the Beasts of War terrain challenge and an idea for something for it.

I decided on a maypole setup that would work with it and with other terrain sets as well...

But the big thing I noticed at Hobby Lobby is some of the things for the little "fairy garden" things in the floral section on my way to pick up the pieces for that. While there are a few buildings that are in that area which would be neat, the really interesting thing was their prepainted mini animals in blister packs...there were several different ones that would work great for familiars or scattered creatures. Only picked up one pack since I need a rabbit for one of the players familiar...I'll get some pics soon, but they're $2.99 for 2 animals (the one I got was a rabbit and a cat which would work well for another character who's playing a Tibbet)...

Not structures, but figured that these pics might interest some people. I based the animals from the fairy garden stuff I got ahold of, a rabbit and a cat. Now, the cat is a bit larger than it should be for scale, but I'm using it in D&D stuff and perhaps as a witch's familiar. The rabbit is pretty fitting for scale, but my camera refused to focus correctly on it alone, but it might still be a useful pic no matter how blurry (At least until I figure out how to get the camera to focus right)

Might be able to use the cat as certain wild cats...

But they are prepainted, I just did the bases for them as they don't come with a base since they're intended for a fairy garden display thing...

Okay, been a while for this, and I realized that I hadn't posted my last actual work on terrain stuff or other work. Posted the pics on DM's Craft and forgot here for various reasons.

Fey Mushrooms

The first are some mushrooms, spotted them in the craft store for 12 for $1.25 and decided to grab them to repaint. Only major downside to them was discovering that whatever they used in coloring the caps originally bled through layers of stuff until I pretty much resealed them...after it bled through autoprimer. So I went with red as the possibility of further bleed through kind of scared me off the original colors I was going to use for them.

Based six in a ring for a basic fairy circle piece, two together, and then 4 individually. They're rather large as shown by the pathfinder goblins that I'm still working on that are there for some semblance of scale since I've been working elsewhere in my house recently since the window in my work area needs some work on it (There's a piece that goes up against the glass that's supposed to make it look like multiple panes, but it's loose and I can't fix that until everything warms up for a while because I need to pull out the part of the window to glue it back down...and at the moment whenever the heater comes on the thing starts rattling because of air movement there).

The Lord Of The Forest (Legendary Stag)

Found the deer in the dollar store just before christmas and just got around to working on it. I used some hot glue to cover up the join in the center of it's ribs and the hole where the tag was attached. Wanted something more mystical looking than a normal deer, so I went with the white deer coloration that I'd found some pics of. There are several types of deer with the coloration to it's fur, mainly in the Americas (There are some white tails and some key deer that I found pics of. It's also the color that, supposedly, used to be a rarer one for various european, asian, and african deer and was referred to as golden such as the golden hind from mythology.

The antlers and hooves aren't matching the normal ones as I went with blue rather than the normal colors.

He's also a massive creature that towers over normal minis which is impressive on the table.

Bloodtip the Stegosaurus

This is the one that took the most time to do, entering it into this months mini painting contest as I only just got it and had to paint him up right away...then it took a few days to figure out how I wanted to paint him until I stumbled onto some pics of zebras and followed that up by adding a bit of red to make him pop to the tips of the plates and the eye ridges.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park inspired the muddy creek for the basing with the first scene with the stegosaurs in it and he worked well to spook the party last night when the players stumbled onto him.

Trees

Went 2 of them to a base, hot glued them on because the things kept breaking superglue for some reason and wouldn't stay in position long enough for me to use white glue when I textured the rest. Just painted over everything in a gray paint, then went with brown over everything, followed by a drybrush on the ground and a bit of brown and black inks that were watered down, the brown also going over the trees. A few light drybrushes of first driftwood and then ivory on the ground left it working well to glue flock over the branches and in patches on the bases. They worked rather well for it and seem really durable.

Unfortunately, they don't really seem to photograph well with the camera jumping focus...

Rock/Ruin

This was hot glued down and worked around the join at the top and sides along with the edges because it wasn't quite as flat as I wanted. The ground is the same as my usual, the rocks were given a layer of white followed by a few bits of thinned inks to make it look more like stone. Ended up hitting it with a bit of a drybrush as well since there wasn't enough texture in the plastic for the normal inked stone look.

Rock Platform

Again the lack of much texture was kind of annoying, but the drybrush worked well for it along with some heavier highlighting on the steps.
