Suitable cars?

Hey guys,

Me and my buddy are working on our own rules set (Weird Krieg, meant for Pulp, Horror and historical settings) and I would like to buy some 1910-1930 28-30mm cars for the Call of Cthulhu games. Does any of you have a good tip? I tried to ebay but I couldn't find anything.

There is some contention about the appropriate scale of toy car/plane/etc. to use with 28mm figures. Personally, I like the 1/43 scale.

If you simply punch "1/43" into eBay as a keyword search in the toys & games section, you should see a reasonable selection of period cars in the appropriate scale:

Note that some people prefer 1/48 scale, but I always think that they look too small beside a standard 28mm figure.

There is much debate about the right scale. I personally find the 1/43 much too large and have chosen to stay in the 1/56 to 1/50 scale range.

Lledo days of wonder cars are popular and seem to be easy to get in the UK.

Another vote for the Lledo days gone series. They are about 1/50 and look just right to me. Sometimes they even come with appropriate scale drivers or civilians you could use as bystanders.

I find 1:56 to be the best compromise scale for vehicles. I dislike 1:48 as I feel it is too large, especially for cars. Trucks don't matter as much, as they tend to be bigger than cars anyway.

The Lledo cars are fine, as are the Matchbox/Lesney "Models of Yesteryear" series is 1/50 diecast, just the right scale and easy to find on eBay.
