Ha! Finally got the materials I needed to make some progress. Unfortunately one of the key pieces arrived in one size bigger >:( . Depending on how the shop responds to my complaint, I have to change some of the measurements. I will post pics tomorrow.
I will host the monthly painting day at our club, so my Saturday is gone, but the company meeting on Sunday got cancelled. This means I can work on the build the whole day. And I need to do a lot, I'm quite behind... o_o

Very tidy, that!  I like the assymmetric look as well.

Someone else with nice landing gear. I like the bulk of the ship too.

Thanks, but you are mistaken, the ship will be mostly symmetric. I just didn't made a paper mock-up of the other side. The cockpit was placed on the port side originally, but I couldn't come up with a design I liked, so it was moved to the middle, see below.

I still need to make a final version. Hopefully tomorrow I can do it.

So here is today's work:

The two side extensions are done, more or less. Port side have the tube for the airlock, starboard side will have the cargo door. I used polystirol, which will be covered with very thin plastic sheet. The top structure will be made with plastic sheet as well, but first I need to finalize the landing gear. I don't want to glue anything before I'm done cutting into the tubes.

Here you can see the cockpit and the forward turret. If I will have time, I want detail both form the inside. If not, then they will be painted.

I dry fitted the houses for the landing gears. The bottom of the ship will be about 2 cms from the ground. I sort of want a top and bottom turret, but probably will only have time to make one. The top turret has priority because it will be more visible.

So cutting small brass tubes and bigger plastic tubes are next.

Three hours of work and I almost have a finished landing gear prototype, that I'm happy with. o_o

It's missing one piston, because the fourth one from my previous attempt is too short. And I don't want to make one now. Also I messed up the holes for the upper ball joints, so one of the piston is skewed... but I reached a point where I don't care about that anymore... I still have to make three other  :'(

I will not cut the side of the other tubes, housing the landing gear, as it turned out to be not necessary. This one will have it patched up. I will probably make it so, that it will look like a quick job to fix some damage. And it still needs some more detailing. I will probably finish it tomorrow.

I think I spent 12 hours during the weekend on these, and still they are not done...  o_o I even made a little helping tool for gluing the plastic strips to the bottom side.

Still have to do the pistons, the covers for the gear houses and tops for the gear columns. Also the prototype gear is not sitting flat once on the body (right one on the next pic), so I have to look into that as well.

The whole thing also tilts somewhat to the tail end, but it's not that noticeable.

I starting to regret my choice for this contest, I seriously doubt I can finish this in time... :(
