This looks promising- I was just reading about the Albigensian Crusades last night; new stuff for me.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments!

Here is a picture of the commander of the Milanese army, cardinal and papal legate, Gregorio da Montelongo.
28mm Gripping beast soon to be painted.

You can read more about him and the battle itself on the blog!

The meeting we had last October in Edinburgh was the sparkle which started it all.

You can read about it in the next issue of Wargames Illustrated (n. 352 - February 2017) and in this article by the author of Lion Rampant (and many other excellent rulesets) Daniel Mersey.

New post on the blog!

We talk about Muslims in the army of Emperor Frederick II, you can read about it here:

And our yet unfinished Muslim archers in service of the imperial army at the Battle of Lodi Vecchio from Gripping Beast.

Very interesting read. Would you care to dwell a bit deeper into what exactly your funding went into. I totally agree that historical wargaming has a huge potential in bringing history to a broader mass, and I would very much like to hear more about your project.

Cheers
Erik

Hi Erik,

Thank to the funding we organised a roundtable and gaming event at Edinburgh. Wargames Illustrated has published an article on it: http://www.wargamesillustrated.net/gaming-with-history/

Then the funding will help us to organise a display at Salute 2017 and San Marino 2017 based on my research on the Italian crusades. We will post on that on our blog and Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/gamingwithhistory/?ref=aymt_homepage_panel

We also have a workshop and a lecture at Edinburgh today on how to use games in academic teaching (information posted on the Facebook group).

get in touch if you have further questions.

Luca
