Late War British Infantrty in Greatcoats / Winter Dress
« on: 09 January 2017, 05:01:00 PM »
Greetings all:

I am looking for help sourcing some 28mm British/Commonwealth sculpts to serve as infantry in winter dress.  I actually need them for a pulp project, acting as Canadian regulars supporting covert ops in the high Rockies in the late 1930s (more on that here: http://madpadrewargames.blogspot.ca/2015/12/coming-in-2016-rockies-ablaze.html).   I am thinking late WW1 or early WW2 would do, as long as they have greatcoats, tin hats, and Lee Enfields, perhaps a Lewis gun and a few officers/NCOs.  I know there is a pack of Brits in winter dress from Great War Miniatures (BO-10 http://northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=568) but I would like a few more options.
Grateful for any advice.
Best,
Mike

Check out Tiger Miniatures. They carry the old HLBS 1919 winter war/Russian intervention figures. Not wearing tin helmets but big fur hats. American and Canadian/British figures.

Brigade Games do their own range of WW1 American "North Russia" range. Might fit the bill?

Many years ago Cannon Fodder produced a range for the Irish Brexit of 1919. Included in that range were British infantry in greatcoats and tin hat. There was only one pose but it was one of the best sculpts Greg ever made, CF having very variable levels of quality.

I bought quite a few and probably still have some. If you like I can look to see what I have but that will be a month or so from now. I know Greg sold the range to someone in Oz, maybe Wartime? Someone on here will know.

I thought perhaps Castaway had picked that range/figure up buy no sign of it. Doesn't show on Wartime either but nor do his Light Horse.

Thank you all for the helpful replies.  The Gorgon figures look to be early WW2 Brits which would probably work for the Canadian Army in the 1930s, but the Tiger ones have loads of character and furry hats which works well with the Bob Murch sculpts I want to use them with.
I appreciate all the advice!
Best,
Mike

I found the Castaway Aussie Light Horse (now Lancashire Games) but no Irish.
