Turning credit cards into terrain
« on: January 23, 2017, 07:57:10 AM »
I know the fastest way to turn credit cards into terrain is to spend them, but...

Due to my wife's job, we end up with a large amount of expended gift / credit cards.  90% are the plain gift cards, with no numbers embossed.  Other than the generic "oh look, another garden patch" that I've made, what else is good construction for these?  Has anybody made huts or such?  I've only used them for bases.

I use such as paint pallets for blending/mixing acrylics...  ::)

I usually use them for bases or large flat areas on a terrain piece, but some of the thinner ones can be used as plasticard.

They could easily be made into Bill boards and signage on buildings.

Mix basing material on them.

Cut a zig-zag down one edge and drag through filler to make a ploughed field.

do little scenes on them to make objective markers

Basically everything you can scratchbuild with plasticcard. The possibilities are endless.

I mainly use them instead of balsa or cardboard  for sturdier details. I.e. encarving wood structure for shields, doors, signs or crates, fittings, locks, bolts, metalic shields, blades.

If you want to use them as a whole I can imagine that you can panel some big scifi buildings with them.

I used one once to make a 'Czech Hedgehog' from a plan that I found on the interweb.  Had to use superglue for construction though as normal Poly cement didn't seem to work.

My wife likes to turn credit cards into terrain. Her terrain. Of course they are melted plastic blobs by the time she finishes with them so limited in application to wargaming.

Personally I like to keep my expired ones. They populate my spare wallet as window dressing for potential muggers along with R$20,00.

If you cut them just right, the raised numbering can be numbers on a sail.

Credit Cards aren't ones I tend to use as much, though they can be, but with gift cards, I tend to use them to base small terrain items and scatter bits that I want to keep together
