Reaper Barbarian vs Coppelstone comparison scale needed
« on: February 18, 2017, 03:59:43 PM »
hey guys,

i have started a warband for Advanced Song of Blade and Heroes based on Ex-Grenadier Coppelstone barbarians. I played them as cavemen or prehistoric warriors. See for here on the LAF or here http://chti-reanimator59.blogspot.fr/2017/02/re-animator-un-gros-gourdin.html on my blog for more technical details)

I would like to mix them with Reaper Barbarians as leader or champion for my warband , but i need to know if they are mixable with classical 28mm as the Coppelstone.

77373: Cuth Wolfson, Barbarian

77199: Thund Bloodwrack, Barbarian

77061: Kord the Destroyer

thank for your help

cheers
Eric

I don't have those minis but I do have the cobblestones. Judging by the height markers on those pics I'd say they are quite a bit bigger. The first one should be good but the bottom definitely too big. Hopefully you'll get better scale pics on here though..

No, do you see the scale markers on the right? The higher one is at 1"!  Generally you should expect Reaper figures to tower over the Copplestones.

My barbarians are packed away but a Copplestone human here is 28mm to the eye and maybe the barbarians are 1mm taller. A typical Reaper figure is 30-32 mm to the eye. Reaper barbarians are often much taller, especially if newer like the ones you show. This one here is older but still 35mm to the eye:

You can find a few that will mix in fine. This one is atypically short at 28mm to the eye (though his pose is not standing straight.

Thank you guys,

That's what i thought about them. :?

For a leader or a champion, big is not a problem but it's must stay something humanly possible  :D
May be like the heresy Boris the barbarian, i used in my nordic bloodbowl
Foundry team.

The new Reaper are more animated than the old ones but the scale is higher so i have to choose between animation and scale mixable with the coppelstone...

Cheers

Eric

Here is a picture with a couple of the Reaper miniatures you showed, and a Copplestone barbarian.

nervisfr, I have that Bones 77199: Thund Bloodwrack, Barbarian and all I can say is: stay away from it! A really awful sculpt! :o

Copplestone's, in the other hand, are some of the very best in the business!  ;)  Since you play them as cavemen/prehistoric warriors, what about mixing them with C12 Cavewomen?

Of course!!! ;)

What about Copplestone's BQ1 Barbarian Queen?

In a cavegirls setting, you can explain her sword and metal shield as some relics she found in a very old barrow...  (at least this worked for my game world ;))

Why the need for a conversion work? Oh, it took me a little time to see the guns in their hands! ;D

Also (and prettier ones IMHO):

It's really not. It's an excellent sculpt. Objectively executed better than anything you've recommended so far from Coppertone.

Bones may not be doing it any favors, but it is still a fantastic sculpt. Here is my own (stalled) effort with the sculpt in question:

Maybe obtaining it in metal would be a better idea nervisfr?
