Looks great so far!

When it's done, take it outside somewhere for pictures - by far the best light!
Pictures were taken at 11 o'clock last night not much light outside at that time  lol

Looking cracking mate  :-*  :-*  :-*

Find the biggest and softest brush you have and use that for the drybrushing and build it up slowly, I find that tends to ease the problem of large blank areas.

cheers

James
I struggle with patience when dry brushing and I tend to be a bit rough some times.  :'(
I have tried the big brush but I then found out that some of the build was a bit more fragile than I thought, so I am trying to be really careful and just using small brushes.
I will get there in the end.

That's the spirit, old chap.

It will be well worth all the painstaking effort  :)

Hey GM, this is coming along nicely and looks great so stick with it.

I know what you mean about the dry brushing. In the end I gave the edges and areas around the rivets a cheeky ink wash and dry brushed the base colour back on. That's about the limit of my painting skills.

I'm still trying to decide what colour to paint the guns on mine and I see you've painted your gun mounts the same colour as the rest of the nef. What colour are you gong to paint the barrels?

I am intending to just paint them like this

Gun Metal and brass.
I have just pinned them in place not glued and I have the carriages that the same guns fit into so I can use them for ground actions as well. This also leaves me the option of upgrading the guns, if I think the Aeronef needs more fire power, once I try it in a game.

The painting of this has taken me forever and it is still not finished.
I thought I would post some WIP photos just to prove that I haven’t given up.
Most of the main painting is finished, still got some details to tidy up and finish. Still have the glass in the portholes to paint. The tail fins also need to be finished.

Next a few images of the guns.

both guns are only pined so that they can also be put on their ground mounts

I have started to paint up the base

Not sure if it is too high, what do you think?

Finally a couple of action shots with the BRAS in place

As the saying goes a change is as good as a rest so I have also been painting the crew and will post some pictures when they are finished.

It's looking really good! Just excellent work there.

Unfortunately, brace yourself, I have some shocking news. You've painted it French.

British tailplanes (on real aircraft anyway) are Red, White, Blue. You've painted yours Blue, White, Red. That is, from the front (prow?) reading backwards. In other words, the red stripe should be closest to the main hull and the blue stripe furthest away.

Ce n'est pas une probleme. C'est une Aeronef formidable, mon brave. ;)

I looked into this before when I was building the BRAS and the colours were blue, white then red, from the front to the back. Are you sure ???
I will need to go and check again thanks

Done a quick search using WWI planes as a guide.

It appears to be blue, white and red.
On WWII planes it appears to be the other way round - red, white and blue
So thank you very much for the panic ;)

Well, I'll jolly well withdraw any objection forthwith, and spank my library-wallah mightily with a rolled-up copy of the London Times, I have been egregiously misinformed by the odious (and possibly foreign, now I come to look at him) little oik!

Of couse it's not French, who suggested such a terrible thing?

OK, it was WWII planes I was looking at.

She's a beauty ;)

I love everything about it down to the small details like the open porthole etc. Wonderful, the colour scheme is working a treat as well. ;D

Yep... it's bloody marvelous.

An absolutely super imaginative project, brought to life.
