I second that the thug with the "bling knuckledusters" and other one with the shotgun are bring ideas of modern pirates to mind.....
GM (me) - you spot a 70 year old grey hair little old lady.. Clutching large leather bound book and a uzi.

“Tom”- “She has a Book!!!”

“Danny”- “I put a bust of M4 fire between her eyes” rolls…

Phil- “if he misses I put a shotgun slug in her face”

That’s the Delta green baby"

Batman will be demoing at Gencon. In Hall G 3063.

Grab your chance to taste a bit of Gotham City on the table top

Monolith have announced, at GENCON, that Batman the Boardgame will be coming to Kickstarter in February 2018. And they are looking at a 10 month turnaround in the the production of the game, much like Mythic Battles: Panteon. So, it should be on your shelf's by Christmas 2018.
The price point, kicking around at the moment is $130 for the base game. This higher price is due to the royalty's that have been and have to be paid to Warner, for the licence. A serious amount of money has already been invested into the project. Meaning that this could be a make or break project. As Fred Henry (the designer and founder of Monolith posted on BGG) said that if it makes less than than Conan ($3million) they would pull the plug...But I can't see that happening, can you?

...It's Batman!

Weren't Conan and Mythic Battles big enough successes to keep them going?
I'd be happy to buy the hero boxes and accessories for Conan that were not KS exclusives, but they don't have them for sale on their website.

I hope that they are successful with Batman and that it reaches retail to keep them afloat beyond Kickstarter.

Those kind of statements are not helpful for their company or project to be honest. That does not help customer confidence in a product/company IMO. ;)

KS is a funding mechanism and marketing tool but a company has to get the costs and price points right to make money. That's just sound business. If they need specific volumes to hit certain items especially in the KS then they may need to look hard at the economics and price points of things.

I'm sure Batman will be a great success - if they do it right. They have the pedigree now but KS is not a guaranteed way to make lots of profit for companies. It often generates revenue but costs have to be controlled very well. KS adds to the costs as well as reducing the risk around whether something has a set of customers willing to buy it. Oh and it has been said elsewhere making games is rarely a way to make a huge amount of profits as a company...

There have been many cases of companies not doing KS'ers right. Some deliver and some don't. Sounds like unlike Mantic & CMON and some other companies, Monolith are still not quite there with the business side of making games. :(

Those statements are not helpful at all...and do not increase my desire to support.  I want the toys for sure...but am more pessimistic now then I was an hour ago...

Agreed, it is not a useful statement. But it is an honest one.

I don't know about you but I prefer honesty and transparency over anything else.
