The Ghoul Queen by Bad Squiddo Games
« on: 05 March 2017, 06:27:38 PM »
Introducing..... The Ghoul Queen!

I collect ghouls (gotta have a hobby), so naturally needed a Queen to lead them. I was a bit miffed that the lastest Ghoul Book from the big guys was all "princes and kings", so pfffft.... Queen Leader Lady over here.

Also check out my brand new website for coolness, as well as lots of new things. I've been a bit crap with updating forums the last few months, so almost certain there is something in there you will have missed.

----

"The Ghoul Queen! Raising her crude weapon at the moon and shrieking, she is soon joined by a loud rumbling noise. The sound of thousands of ghouls scuttling at her command. They adore their queen, ghouls that come to pay their respects are rewarded with a swift bite to the jugular.

As well as commanding on foot, Her Majesty can also be seen riding many a beast. With this is in mind she is on a resin tabbed base which she can easily be clipped off and pinned on a metal, resin or plastic model.

Cast in high quality RESIN, and 28mm scale, she comes unassembled and unpainted.

Sculpted by Andrew May, display painted by Ralph Plowman. Concept by Annie Norman and Kate Evans."

She's creepy and she's kooky,
mysterious and spooky.
She's altogether ooky,
Bad Squiddo Ghouly Queen.

I dig the sculpt and that's a lovely paint job, but as is often the case with this sort of model I find myself wondering exactly what contributed the bones on the model.  The weapon must have come from something absolutely huge, while the necklace bits look like she's been snacking on pixies or something.  Really limits cross-use in low-fantasy, Mythos/horror or pulp settings where you might have ghouls/cannibals but not giants or wee folk.

Just a personal niggle, I suppose.

You are the third person this evening, so at least it's not just you  ;)

It was designed with high fantasy in mind, leading hordes of bloodthirsty ghouls to storm a medieval castle while stood on the back of a mighty dragon. Has cheese in there...obviously fantasy cheese, not cheesecake!

The bone could be from a number of large creatures... a dragon, a manticore, an elephant beast...thing. Smaller bones could be rabbits....guinea pigs....squeep.

Or just small bones from the same creature - finger bones, teeth and wotnot.

Said all! A great idea and a great miniature, Annie, CONGRATULATIONS!

She's not my kind of lady... but I liked the painting very much! ;)

Ditto.

The kind of creature that would give me the player shudders and my player character N/G cleric(s) a burning desire to smite!

One, for the bone club, could:

Remove/replace it

Use green stuff and knife to turn it into a branch

Or different creatures.  Or carvings.

Cool ghoul!

Heresy miniatures have one female ghoul (complete with baby for eating).
