Some more pics

 :)

With all due respect to other people's opinions I cannot find those to be 'wooden'. I think they are just lovely.

Can't wait for the Auxiliaries..this is when I will be investing serious cash.

Cheers

Probably the perfect subject for plastic. Any annoying shoulder joins will be hidden by the armour. They do look very good indeed.

I thoroughly love those.  Can't wait to see the 'attacking versions'.  And for people that want more dynamics for their skirmishing battles, that is probably the set you should wait for as its coming.

Very impressive kit -  and not wooden at all-  intact as its plastic it will open allot of conversion as well with the right inspiration.

Very nice indeed. Good to see that there's some hope for historical plastics.

Certainly a nice looking kit, although my Warlord legionaries are numerous enough to not warrant another set. Auxiliae, on the other hand - WG dropped the ball there (as discussed on other threads regarding upcoming figures, they basically made metal models in plastic, i.e. with very limited options and no real poseability - indeed, pretty much copying their own metal auxilaries in terms of poses) and a decent kit of those will be fantastic. As would some proper Germanics to oppose them.

The backs of the tunics don't look quite right though, and the pilum tips seem pretty large - although I admit those are fairly minor quibbles.

Good to have some clearer pictures, figures look very good and as usual the spare parts will be very handy.  I seem to recall an animated pose was shown on the website/facebook some time ago.   EIR gamers are lucky indeed.

Looking very good although I'd have liked a bit of variation in helmet types as modern ideas are that the Legionaries were less uniform than we used to think. Great thing about Romans is that they spent a lot of time fighting other Romans...

Been following these on Facebook and they do look very nice. Wonder if we'll see some German and Dacian opponents further down the line?

They look not bad, indeed. Though I agree with Adam, more variations in helmet and armor types would have made them even better.

Oh my.  When the attacking poses box comes out I'll snatch that up in a flash.  These are nice...very nice.   :)

It's always a balance between catering for the 'Feinschmeckers' and keeping production cost as low as possible, I guess. I agree with you both, but at the same time, if these and the attacking legionaires are going to be sold at a price level similar to their other sets, they are really going to give Warlord a run for their money!

I would have liked a mix of hamata and segmentata (I don't think the segmentata was as widely used as sometimes depicted by wargamers' collections - actually I have my own theory that it had it's hayday following the eradication of Varus' four legions in the Teutoburger Forest, because it was faster to manufacture than the hamata, and thus the natural choice for the legions raised to replace the lost ones) - the hamata must have been so much more pleasant to wear in a tight spot, with its higher flexibility, and less need for adjusting to the individual soldier.

That being said, I think it is quite obvious that I shall have to get some of these, somewhen in the future. Legio X in Palestine...?
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

They are very very nice!!  :-* :-*

Steve I asked Victrix the question of Germans and Dacians several weeks ago. They responded by saying that they were looking at possibly doing Ancient Germans and would be considering Dacians also. So keep your fingers crossed we might well see them sometime in the future!
