I was on holiday lately, and had plenty of time to cook up mad new ideas. I decided to start writing a small sourcebook for pirate gaming, based on my pirate miniatures and games played using them. It will detail a fictitious but historically plausible town and its colourful inhabitants in the West Indies in the early 1700s. The idea is for the book to be system neutral, providing hooks, characters and ideas for both wargaming and role-playing games. Entertaining and Hollywood-y, yet firmly grounded in history for the most part. Not brimming with intricate detail, but rather something to boost the imagination, with plenty of opportunity to fill in the blanks as you like.
Now, this will be a pet project that might go on for all eternity, and things like this are fun to share! So, if you fancy a look at what might be in store, have a look at a draft of the first character -
the pirate queen Maricruz Aguilera de Cartagena.
