Fighting sail errata?
« on: April 01, 2017, 02:32:42 AM »
For anyone who has played this, I just got the rules and they seem simple enough but I was wandering if there is an errata for it and if so where?

In a search for plastic or mdf movement and wind templates I found another forum where they had mentioned the movement diagrams being wrong and could confuse from rules as written.

Errata? More like a complete overhaul's needed with these.

I have not played it yet, just read through the rules. I have a load of the old Pirates collectable card stock ships and wanted some rules to use them with.

The FAQ causes some confusion.
"Q:   The  rulebook  states   that   a   ship   cannot   do   tight   turns   while   running.   Is   this   checked   for   at   the  beginning   of   a   ship’s   movement   (like   sailing   points)   or   is   it   checked   more   often?
A:   While   a   ship's   attitude   towards   the   wind   doesn't   change   how   many   sailing   points   it   gets   throughout   a  phase,   wearing   and   tacking   cannot   be   done   while   the   ship   is   running.   This   means   that   if   you   are   in   the  middle   of   spending   sailing   points   and   find   yourself   running,   wearing   and   tacking   are   not   options   until   you  are  no  longer  running."
But re rules say your attitude does not change during the sailing phase so so you should never be concerned about wind direction after you first determine the ships attitude.
