The front rank brigade pack that I ordered came with the standard bearers so I thought I may as well use them...

And you did well. I like it.
In terms of wargames i dont see why you cant use them unless you are a "historical fanatic".
And if someone says your Brown of the uniform isnt the correct one that is a lie. Burel or Saragoça was the materiel used for the uniform and it was and still is made by hand so a lot may be dark Brown and the next one could be medium Brown.

Delighted to report that as of last night the Napoleonic Project I have been working on for the past 7 months is now complete....so of course the forces had to be paraded.
