That's a cool little group you've assembled there.
That Ion Age battlesuit looks brutal.

How about calling them "Hell's Furies" and going for an ash grey and fiery orange paint job...       ...or just do your own thing that you do so well  ;)

I look forward to seeing where you take them.

Cheers,
Stroezie.

Thanks Stroezie!

I want and like input (even if I don't always follow it), my main quandary is wether future optics/cybernetic enhancements/sensors will make normal camouflage obsolete (and if that's true, wether that equipment will be available on the fringe of the galaxy). One part of me wants to make a badass mercenary squad, stealthy and deadly. Another part of me wants to go full space opera with bold, strong colours (both on the infantry and the mech). I just can't decide which way to go...

I would imagine that modern camouflage would incorporate modern technology to defeat modern optics with such things as laser deflecting paint or infra red absorbing materials etc. So I imagine you can paint your figures any way that you please

So soldiers in bright orange, purple or pink uniforms would still be able to be camouflaged?

My thought was "if optics has been perfected, one could wear whatever one wants on the battlefield", which would explain bright red armour.

Or perhaps future mercenaries don't give a fuck.

Chameleon nanoflage, the uniforms change color to match the background, we're just seeing them on their parade ground setting. ;)

Okay, so disaster struck. I dropped my entire tray if minis when trying to carry them back to storage...

Luckily, I found everything except for one single mini (which I will find sooner or later) and only one mini (the Havelock battlesuit) broke, but she was easily glued together again.

Here's everything found and fixed:

Glad it turned out well. I dropped a tub of basing material on the carpet the other day...

That can't have been fun, thenamelessdead...

It was in our guest room, which doubles as storage. Hence stuff everywhere. I had to crawl on the floor for 45 minutes to collect the minis.

I'm not sure if I should try some batch painting to get something done or if I should take my time with one (or two) minis at a time. Basing and partially undercoating almost 70 minis is an arduous task, and it sucks the fun out of hobbying.

Re: [15mm] Ockman's Sci-fi, update 180225: Robotronix Astral-series droid
« Reply #159 on: February 24, 2018, 11:18:50 PM »
The Robotronix Astral-series droids were developed back when humanity settled the Sol System, before the First Expansion. Back then, advanced AI cores were too large (or prohibitively expensive) to house in humanoid droids. The Astral-series droids were designed to aid and support starship crews with navigation, information analysis, power routing and damage control.

One would think that many millenia later, the model would be obsolete, but it's still produced and in use. The droids are generally seen as reliable, tough and easy to work with, and many starship designs still rely on the use of Astral-series droids. Their ability to communicate with both old and new computer systems also makes them popular with adventurers exploring Lost Worlds and abandoned installations...

Hey, thanks!

I do like that set, got it as a freebie on my first GZG order. The best thing with GZG freebies is that they seem to know what I want before I even ordered it!

Re: [15mm] Ockman's Sci-fi, update 180228: Order of the Silver Matrix lodge
« Reply #162 on: February 28, 2018, 05:31:15 PM »
The Order of the Silver Matrix was founded by survivors of the Xintian Incident, with the intent of finding lost technology that might pose a threat to intelligent life, and safekeeping it. The Order operates in secret, outside governmental control, its members often posing as scavengers, tech archaeologists or adventurers.

Silver Matrix lodges can be found on any settled world that might house lost technology, whether it's of alien or human origin. The lodges appears as unassuming buildings, although the main entrances are painted in a striking colour. Members of the Order can, with the right kind of settings on their optics, see a silver matrix covering the doors.
The lodges operate under the guise of being historical societies, museums or halls of oddities, places where explorers might turn up with old tech or leads...
