A Blotz Jolly Boat for (amongst other things) Ghost Archipelago.

A very simple MDF kit, the majority of which are a stack of simple shapes.

Nine figures based on 25mm Renedra bases fit comfortably.

Simplest conversions are always the most effective.

Thanks, and thanks about the comments about the boat.

I do need to crack on with those Nilfgaard stand ins.

Re: UVS Frostgrave - Spawning Pool - 04/04/2022

So this is the first thing I have painted this year, of any kind.

Not a good start.

I bought a Blotz Spawning Pool at SELWG last year, I had already assembled one for use with Ghost Archipelago in 2018.

I decided this should have a story to it. I decided that it would still be full of frozen water, perhaps with broken ice indicating Something had emerged from the inky depths.

Removal of the corner of the capstones together with some of the wall stones from the same corner showed its age.

I also decided it needed a more irregular base, especially where the Something had escaped.

A Products For Wargamers Scatter Base of suitable size was chosen and the partially assembled pool was glued in place. Some additional flag stone fragments made from bits of MDF. The pieces of MDF removed from the walls was then added on top, together with the two separate cap stones.

Between the flagstones and on the other parts of the exposed base, Woodland Scenics cinder ballast was sprinkled over PVA glue.

The whole thing was first sprayed with Halford's Grey Primer, followed by Citadel Chaos Black spray. The whole thing was then brush painted with watered down Army Painter black paint to seal the PVA and fill in where the spray might have missed.

The stones were dry brushed first with a mix of Vallejo Black Grey and Army painter Black, followed by lighter dry brushing of Black Grey, then Black Grey mixed with Vallejo London grey and finally a dry brush of Citadel terminates Stone.

It was then washed with Citadel Nuln Oil.

The pool itself has still to be painted.

So the Barbarians II box set is out (http://ultravanillasmurf.blogspot.com/2022/11/frostgrave-barbarians-ii.html).

As I was looking at the bodies, I did think that one of them was a bit over dramatic for my Oathmark  Northmen army.

However, I also bought the Stargrave Mercenaries II box set (http://ultravanillasmurf.blogspot.com/2022/11/stargrave-mercenaries-ii.html) which has a couple of interesting heads suitable for fantasy figures.

Amongst the weapons on the Barbarians II sprue are a pair of what I can only describe as "punch swords", short sword length blades with the grip perpendicular to the blade, Suitably exotic for a non human character.

I still have to base and start to paint it (or indeed any other figure this year),

Not specifically for Frostgrave, but for Five Leagues.

The Whispers from Beyond enemy table wants various undead, including various types of what look like zombies.

I am working on a casting call for the table, but the Fireforge Living Dead Peasants will cover a number of the entries.

The box contains three identical sprues, each sprue builds six figures (four male and two female - evidently raised by an equal opportunity necromancer).

There are three complete pairs of empty hands, plus two handed and one handed weapons.

Like the other Fireforge fantasy figures, they are quite tall. They are without puddle bases, so it is not quite so noticeable.

Oathmark Skeleton, Fireforge Living Dead Peasant, Oathmark Human Infantry and Oathmark Revenant infantry.
