In theory... as long as the chapter symbol was used... these marines could be in camouflage? Maybe?

I have some camouflaged Primaris Marines that are in the WIP stages... and they don't have a chapter yet... so maybe they can be 'Leaden Keep' marines?

Camo would work well I reckon:

Rather than a castle you could use the Greek letters Lamda/Alpha/Phi ?

Or maybe use that on kneepads?

Citadel colours (painted on the back panel of a Crooked Dice MDF console - a plain white or black background would be better).

The Citadel colours are (vertically, left to right):
Castellan Green; Zandri Dust; Death Guard (Snot Womble) Green.
Rakarth Flesh; Bleached Bone (discontinued); Ceramite White; Pallid Wych Flesh; Rotting Flesh (discontinued); Castellan Green.
Bleached Bone (discontinued); Rakarth Flesh; Pallid Wych Flesh; Kislev Flesh; Rotting Flesh (discontinued).

"Daylight" fluorescent - no flash.

"Daylight" fluorescent - no flash - colour corrected on the white.

"Daylight" fluorescent - flash.

"Daylight" fluorescent - flash - colour balanced on the white.

The colours are repeated on the next post so that the two background colours can be compared.

Please note this is NOT a double post, I am just comparing the colours to both background colours.

From the above, the new Death Guard Green looks like a good match for the darker colour and the bone colour for the lighter colour.

Of course that might just be on my monitor (YMMV).

The very light colour does resemble the lamented Rotting Flesh.

Thanks Ultravanillasmurf, so that's:

#f6f6d6
GW Rotting Flesh (discontinued) or Kislev Flesh

#999966
GW Death Guard Green

#cccc99
GW Bleached Bone (discontinued) or Ushabti Bone

?

I've clarified the use of camouflage and the chapter symbol in low visibility form along with adding "Λ Α Φ" as a motto.

Nobody has mention Nurgling Green, I did some experiments last night and thought that this was spot on for the dark colour. Yes I really miss Rotting Flesh, that would have been useful here.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

2019 Painting Challenge :
figures bought: 500+
figures painted: 57
9 vehicles painted
4 terrain pieces scratchbuilt

Nurgling green is a layer paint, Death Guard is a base. They are very similar.

Humbrol 90 is my replacement for Rotting flesh.

Have to sort out the GW paints there. They seem to be easier to find than Vallejo - tried my usual 3 stores where they sell that range and they don't have Buff  :(

How about... 'close enough'?

If you have a paint that is close enough to the LAF scheme, use that :) . It saves being too precious and also enables a small amount of flexibility. The unifying item will always be the chapter symbol... you can't get the same paint on different planets, after all ;)

I'm clearly a Vallejo guy, but I'll put this information up and amend as we move forward.

Inso - I think it's more for people that have nothing close (or who are colour blind) to get the closest colour.

Okay so the Space Marines I got yesterday are taller than the older Marines, but smaller than Primaris Marines. Is there somewhere that tells me the history of Space Marine miniatures? I found this:
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Miniatures_(Space_Marines)

Must've dropped out of the game between third & fourth editions.

Very few people can hold a colour in their head, what looks close separately maybe very far apart when you actually compare them. Plus lighting has a major effect (see the colour swatches above).

I spent ages looking for a colour match to PSC German Tank spray (interesting selection of unused pots and bottles in my paint box). Of course Vallejo Dark Yellow (which I had) was what I was looking for, with the name it was easy to find.

I am told that men can only name five colours, four of which are magnolia. ^__^.

A round of applause for von Lucky, for showing us the first recruits for the Chapter. Mine are still taking a bath to get rid of their Ebay paint...
