ACW skirmish WIP
« on: January 08, 2013, 08:02:04 PM »
Hello everyone,

today I had a little break from "real life" so I sat down and finished bases on my first ACW infantry.

They still need some touch ups and a proper flag  :)

Following these are the Union troops:

Hope you like them

Thank you

I bought song of drums and shakos rules a few weeks ago. So these will be my two test forces. :)

Brother against Brother is also a very nice rule set

I would love to do some Bloody Bill and Quantrill type skirmishes.

I and a friend have put on 28mm Wild West/ACW skirmish games using Brother Against Brother rules.  These games are for 8 or more players and include post-ACW (renegade) Confederates, Quantrill and his band, Bloody Bill and friends, Apaches, U.S. Cavalry, Imperial and Republican Mexicans and French (in Mexico, American Southwest).  The Quantrill and Bloody Bill figures are all from Wargames Foundry (in case you are lookiing for those figures).

These games include a publo town with a steam train, railroad tracks, water tower, and around ten buildings with corrals, etc.

The French are usually trying to sell the Confederate renegades a rail car mounted heavy cannon with the train for stolen gold.  The Imperials and the Republican Mexicans want the gold.  Quantrill and Bill want the gold.  The Apaches want the horses and cattle in town and guns and gold.  The U.S. Cavalry wants the Confederates, the cannon and the gold.  All the players have a different agenda/objective, alliances are encouraged between players with a lot of cut throat activity seen between players.

The train arrives early and the attacks begin at random from random/assigned directions.  This game is played on a 6' by 12' board of southwest terrain.  I can upload some photographs of one or more of the runnings of this game scenario if there is interest.

They look great.

Even though I generally use Brother Against Brither for my games, albeit in 15mm, I also own Song of Drum and Shako, along with '61-'65 which have rules for playing the game as a Song of Drums and Shakos variant. I plan to try SDS out in the not too distant future at our local club.

ffrum - I am always interested in see pictures of ACW skirsh games  :D

Cheers,

Barry

Here are the first two photos from the US/Renegade Rebels game I described below.
One is an overview of most of the table and the second is the water tower at the town where the engagement takes place.

Three more photos from the game.  A partial view of the Rebels defending the town, train and trasaction in progress to buy the cannon with the train.  A view of the Dixon locomotive pulling the train.  The third is the (scratch built) flat car holding the big gun the Rebels seek to buy from the Imperial Mexicans.
