Will he ever walk again?
« on: 01 March 2015, 09:11:56 AM »

I painted this small diorama from Black Tree Design.

I tried photographing it too... but I found it impossible to make it look like the real thing.

I will try again outside later when the camera's recharged.

Redid the photos outside. Muuuch better!

The varnish dried up with small flakes of white here and there though.  :o >:(

Surgeon Major Reynolds:

"You know this boy?"

Orderly:

"Name is Cole, sir. He's a paper hanger."

Surgeon Major Reynolds:

"Well, he's a dead paper hanger now."

Very nice, not sure about the white cap though?

I found quite a few different takes on it but ended up taking the one I liked the best.

If you're concerned as to authenticity, white covers on forage caps are legit if not exactly ten-a-penny for the Zulu War. If your objection is more fashion or style-based I can offer no opinion on the matter.  ;D

Nice work, Viking.

Thanks for all your kind words. It is very motivating reading.

I have a few more vignettes on the way for Zulu war... and then loads of the diametrical opposite: Cheap plastic Zulus, painted at speed and without looking twice!

My plan was always to get 200 zulus in total. 120 plastics and 80 metal (foundry and black tree - redoubt seems to be TOO out of scale). The metal will get a proper treatment whereas the plastic will just be there for the big games.
