SI’s Quar - 14/5 trench tile finished (lots of pics)
« on: April 29, 2024, 06:04:57 PM »
A new but relatively restrained project for me….. The Quar.

The first 6 minis are now painted, all Crusaders; an officer, LMG and 4 troopers with Assault Rifles:

I did put together the following painting guide but decided that I preferred boots to the combination of shoes, spats and knee protectors.

At the moment I’m aiming for a mere 14 minis per side, comprising:

1 x Officer
1 x rocketeer
2 x LMG
8 x rifle (Royalist) or AR (Crusader)
2 x HMG light tractor crew

Next up are a similar number of Royalists, though I also have a 2’x2’ trench board planned.

For buildings, I’ve decided that these Quar have moved upmarket and are living in stone houses (which I’m borrowing from my Scottish project).

I shan’t be using the Rhyfler Pocket Book rules but something much simpler based on the 20 year old Ultra Simple Skirmish Rules, which I’ve called Quar Quar Diddly Quar Quar*.

They look great and fit in well with the buildings. The trench board sounds cool.

Nice work on those.

The buildings suit them

By the way, the Bogen is a semi-automatic rifle not an SMG (but your rules, your definitions).

Thanks all :)

Yes, thanks for pointing that out as my wordage misleads. 8)
You’re also right that it’s a shorthand from my rules, as SMGs and assault rifles are classed together, being distinct from bolt action rifles as carried by the Royalists. I think a revision is in order. :D

Edit: In opening post, SMG changed to AR

Nice job.  They look excellent and the numbers will make for a good little skirmish game. 😀

I forgot to ask,  what are you using as the tractor?

Something I saw online - can’t remember where - a converted WW2 universal carrier. I liked the look so am doing something similar.

Steve, up to your usual high standard, and multi game nonsense. Looks like a hoot, you could use them for Turnip28 in a pinch too.

I look forward to more eye candy sir and wonderful custom minis.

Cheers
Matt

Those buildings (Fughu?) fit perfectly, and would also work for Anrayal (Twilight) to a certain extent,I would think

Thanks all - comments are very much appreciated  :)

Fughu (sp?) is correct. Lovely buildings. I did convert them for a bit of variety and to tie them in with the rest of my Scottish project. There’s more about the buildings on this thread here:
