The Red Planet 15mm
« on: May 01, 2024, 05:03:03 PM »
I've been checking out some of the really imaginative sci fi work on Instagram, especially those featuring a dead, dusty planet.  My original goal was to combine elements of Alien, Terminator, and Lovecraft  I want to create an rpg feeling type of miniature experience.  My original idea was a group of salvagers looking for technological scrap from an ancient race of aliens.

This looks great! Evocative, and the colours work well to make the details pop while all being uniform

Completely agree, it looks great and is very evocative! The second from last pic may give a clue about what caused the downfall of the civilization on the planet… (reminds me a bit of Pitch Black, the first Chronicles of Riddick movie I saw)

Looks nice!
Do you happen to know the Necroplanet Grob project on Gardens of Hecate? Same red dead planet stuff, worth a look for inspiration.

Vacc-suited figures don't get enough love in our pulp-inspired hobby. They look great on that board - really helps to sell the alienness of the planet.

Indeed, even the most alien planet has breathable air and 100kPa air pressure :)
Space suits add a lot of eerieness to a scene about finding building ruins or other structures- what happened here that even the air is gone? Or what kind of monstrosity built these that it did not even required atmosphere to do so?

Added some hills.  The mod podge did not protect the styrofoam so it melted.  Oh well, looks kind of cool.
