do you combine your Grenadiers in one battalion or do they always stay in their parent regiment ?

Thanks! WAS is very interesting, we have posted many battles at the Honours of War forum.
I often combine my Grenadiers in one converged unit

Thanks! They are OG, indeed, although most of my armies are Blue Moon.

Blue Moon makes nice sculpts, indeed, especially for cavalry.

Well! It is a great compliment that you like them so much!
There are just a few months you see all this collection completed and these little soldiers have not accomplished all their tasks, I mean to be fielded in battles, historical or fiction I've planned for them.
And still some expansions are being on the way.
But I'll keep your gentle offer in mind. Thank you again!

Yes, a simple A4 paper, in the last cases bent forward to represent the ground as well!
I tried various angles but I did not manage to avoid the light reflection, though.

Hahaa! Thanks! Campaign is difficult to program and orchestrate. The period has not so many fans and usually I feel lucky to find one friend to play with, in the club other periods are more populated. We have just played some big battles with a great number of units involved.

Eureka have some fine sculpts they really are worth it to have. Old Glory has very characterful figures, Some units animated give the spice! Blue Moon has provided the core of my armies, I like them a lot.
I'm very happy if I motivated you, it is a great joy to know!

I'll certainly do some close-ups at some point, but it'll probably have to wait until the Spring, as I do all my photography outdoors. Even if I had room indoors (which I don't), Mrs Fawr likes low-energy 'mood-lighting', which essentially means living like our ancestors did before humans learned to harness electricity... or gas... >:(

Yes, I generally love the Old Glory figures, with the Austrians probably being the best of the bunch and the French cavalry probably being the worst. I've just bought some more Austrians to finish off my Bavarian Auxiliary Corps, but will probably go more for Eureka and/or Blue Moon after that, mainly because their pack composition better suits my needs, but also because they are generally better models. Someone else was saying that Eureka will TOWER over my Old Glory figures, but I doubt that. My ABs don't tower over my OG Napoleonics. I wouldn't mix them in the same units, but when on the table the differences are almost completely unnoticeable until you have a really close look.

Mrs Fawr was looking over my shoulder, so for the time being I've ordered a small batch from Eureka - a Hungarian regiment, a Prussian fusilier regiment, a Prussian grenadier battalion and some Prussian horse artillery. I've wanted horse artillery for years, but Old Glory only ever did them in a stupidly large bag (and now don't do them at all).

Thank you! Your paint job is highly admirable and you are doing all this excellent, prolific job by yourself! I have to paint figures for years, so I depend to friend painters and the delivery time, especially these days is dubious... Yesterday I managed to sneak out of the house (Christmas day was more elastic), to go and meet friend George and get those.
For Eureka yes, I haven't seen such a long rammer before :o probably I will replace it with wire, too.

Unfortunately the natural light coming was a bit odd, it didn't help much, I used mainly natural light and the sun today was coming from a different angle, I have taken better pictures during spring or summer. But if you could see them from close, friend George has painted some very beautiful pieces!

I imagine that the most likely white paint of the period would be 'white lead' which would look quite grey, hence that description, I suppose? I am tempted to go with that colouring, just to make them stand out.

Any idea re Brunswick gun-carriages?

As I did my French guns wrong with red carriages (thanks Osprey! >:( ), I'm going to recycle those as Reichsarmee guns and paint some new guns with light blue carriages for the French.

For the French, don't worry, I made the same the same mistake lol

As for Brunswick artillery:
The artillery was small and served only the battalion guns of the infantry. There was no heavy artillery with the Brunswick army during the Seven Years' War.
In 1757, it counted 3 companies with some 272 men, serving 14 pieces (6 x 3-pdr guns, 2 howitzers, 6 x 2-pdr guns)
In 1760 the unit was increased to 320 men.

I must confess that I've bought lads in Prussian Fusilier caps for my Wurttemberg Kreis-Regiment... Don't hate me... ;)

(It's an odd one... They are recorded as having caps in the 1740s and again in the 1780s, but not during the SYW. I'm guessing they had them for 'parade best' and then brought out the tricorn hats for campaigns?)

I only envy you, the good way, for the outstanding setup of your blog and the frequency of your posts!
One more reason of envy is that my lead pile has completely vanished and from this side of the world, with the present conditions, it is terribly difficult concerning time and money to make new orders :(

I am proud that Kronoskaf accepted my tentative reconstructions of Ernestinisch Sachsen flags, I hope you like this one.
For the dear colleagues who may wonder whether Saxe Weimar Eisenach had fusiliers, I will humbly admit that there is no such evidence.
Simply, from the figures available I was short of 8 hatmen and had a surplus of 8 fusiliers.
So this unit partly belongs to the sphere of Imagi-Nations :)

By the way, we were discussing the lack of available Horse Grenadier figures a while ago. Well I received two of the new(ish) 9-figure Austrian Dragoon packs from Old Glory 15s (via Timecast) today and I can confirm that each pack contains two Horse Grenadier figures, even though they're not shown on the website. Excellent news for me, as I needed four to finish off a unit! :)

Dear Jemima, you mean a lack only for Austrian Horse Grenadiers. Blue Moon has troopers with fur caps for the French, a set of Royal North British Dragoons for the British and new sets of Horse Grenadiers for its Russian series.

"Armies of the seven Years War by Digby Smith" is my only book I own. I had a few Osprey books for SYW, sold long ago.
I admit that my library is poor in SYW bibliography, so that, personally, I have not any other to recommend.

My main source, for many years now, for both SYW and WSS is the excellent site of Kronoskaf

It's just a shame I didn't use them more when painting the figures... ::)

(For the uninitiated, my blog consists mostly of a record of where I got things wrong and what I SHOULD have painted...) :D

The Ospreys for the period are mostly pretty good and you COULD spend a fortune on the four-volume boxed set on the Prussian Army by Bleckwenn or the vast range of excellent books by Stephen Summerfield, but as Dino says, Kronoskaf has pretty much everything you might need for free, barring a few details.

I would also recommend Frederic Aubert's excellent uniform plates, especially with regard to the Reichsarmee, where he's covered a lot of the gaps and corrected a few of the mistakes in Kronoskaf. He's also just started doing flag sheets (supplied as pdfs that you have to print yourself):

The last years I am not painting any more. All these are commission works of three different friends.
I have a strong feeling that for the near future this collection will get much worser lol
