Best Mummy Minis?
« on: 18 August 2009, 03:23:42 AM »
Now that I have all of Rattrap's .45 stuff, and once I have finished some of their Fantastic Worlds projects, I want to do some Egyptian-themed Pulp stuff.
I'll put together a bit of a campaign that goes from a Museum in North America to the streets of Cairo to some tombs of ancient Egypt.
This is going to, at some point, require a bunch of mummies on the table.

Can I hear some suggestions on the best mummy minis?
I'm looking to get a good handful, maybe around a dozen or so, but I'd like to keep the costs to a few bucks per model if possible.
I really like the look of Reaper's The Awakened, but at $40 for only 9 figures, I dunno.

Your thoughts?

The reaper ones are my favorite...if you need a few. Heroclix did a good one...kinda skinny, with robes hanging off...

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Possibly not the best, but West Wind's mummies are quite serviceable and reasonably priced and make up the bulk of one of my Egyptian themed Pulp factions:

Crocodile Games sells a unit of beautiful mummies - 10 for $36:

And if you ask, (if it's an issue for you), they'll send you a unit with all human mummies, and no standard bearer if you don't want one either.  I had them do that for me once with a unit I ordered as reinforcements...

Best one in my humble opinion is the first gothic horror/curse of the mummy Mummy from Citadel miniatures, really captures the look for me, unarmed, bent and twisted and something about the head bandaging sculpt that really ozzes unlife:

I was gunna say West Wind or Crocodile Games' are the best, IMO....

Cheapest option I have seen is the Heroquest board game that used to have mummies as one of the monster figures - not brilliant, but they crop up second hand at quite low prices and paint up nicely.

Thanks for all of the suggestions!

I think in the end what I'll do is get a number of different models.  I don't know exactly how many I need just yet...heck, I've barely even looked through my .45 stuff!
I'm sure a good dozen would suffice.

I'll start tracking down various mummies.
Thanks again, guys.

I'd forgotten about those - somewhere I have a few of them - they can join my undead hordes - Mwwaahaahaa  >:D

That's a great one, Stecal, thanks!
I still haven't picked any up yet, but I think I'll go with "random assortment," to keep the poses varied.
