I want it. I really, really want it.

But look at the price! Look at the price!

*Miep* That's the plane for my father's only son! But I fear you can't do something similar for a better price and earn money with it...

Now, from an aircraft modeller´s POV, 75 Euros for a quarter scale garage kit, if of accepabtle quality, is not that unheard of.

A lot of dough, though. But an experimental tri-plane water aeroplane! Awwww!

Doh! A triplane in resin? Certainly a beautiful subject, but how long can you store it in an ordinary (reads: non air-conditioned...) showcase? Those resin wings will flap down like the ears of a basset after a longer time in a warm climate... But the price tag is typical for these planes.
But how about these?

Or if "Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines" are closer to 'yer heart:

http://www.ajpmaquettes.com/Dossier%20Anglais/Collection%20Vieux%20Bois%20liste%20anglais.htm

These planes are almost built like their bigger originals. Some of them have real rubber tyres and wooden props. And compared to your Hansa Brandenburg some of them are almost a bargain. Others are not (e.g. the Caproni Ca3 for 180 EUROS  ). As far as I've heard they are not easy to build. You'll need a cask of tranquilizer for sure.

Phew! For someone used to SMER £3.99 biplanes those prices make my head spin. And as for horrid fiddly kits for expert modellers? I'm a wargamer: They can have them, and I'll just have to go on dreaming...

Hell hath no fury like a resin aircraft kit.

Take the money and invest it in something more fun, like miniatures or a heroin habit.

Someday, they may come true.

Plynkes,

There's a fairly big  IPMS show in Antwerp next week (8th) Sometimes those Omega kits turn up secondhand at a reasonable price. Got myself a nice GL fighter for a mere 15 Euro.

If you want me to I'd be happy to keep an eye open for you.

BTW if you order this plane directly from Omega it's 'only' 58 Euro. Same for the biplane version I believe.

Thanks Willie. That would be lovely. Very kind of you to offer.

I think about 40 Euros is my top limit for such a thing (plus your postage costs etc., obviously). If we can't get one for that amount or less then I guess it just ain't meant to be.

 :)

The Company also has the Hansa-Brandenburg which I'd like to get at some point for Linienschiffsleutnant Ottakar, Ritter von Prohaska adventures 8)

I'll need to save
Best wishes,
Helen

That is the Hansa Brandenburg pictured. I wanted one for the exact same reason as you, Helen!  :)

I see they do them in a variety of scales. 1/72 would be easier on the wallet. Two different 1/48 scale ones. Not sure which one Otto would want.

Oh, right. Sorry Helen, a bit of mix up there, what with them both being Hansa Brandenburgs and all.

I recall him flying (and crashing) a sea plane at some point, but on reflection  I think it was an Etrich of some description and I think he flies a Lohner too at some point. But I'd still like a k.u.k. seaplane, even if it isn't the exact one from the story. I just have a thing for seaplanes you see.

 :)

Going back to your C.I, this one is much cheaper (£16.98 from Hannants), though it is a Czech variant, so you'd have to come up with your own k.u.k. decals:
