The next Kickstarter from Dwarven Forge has begun…

Lots of very cool modular structures and assorted accessories are anticipated.

The preview photos look to me to have more quirky charm than precious DF buildings.

If you are curious, they showed more prototypes and talked about how the Kickstarter will work on Twitch.

Mrs. GG and I wish we had more disposable income given the prices… and that it was not being produced in China. However the quirky charm of the sculpts is quite appealing.

Just can't afford those over the top prices. Stuff looks nice though. I did buy in at $10 and will add a few accessories that I liked but that will be about it.  There is really no value for the city stuff for me

As usual, was interested until the comical prices.  Particularly since they finally decided to release some basic 2x2 tavern/building pieces.

The Dwarven Forge Cycle for me:

Ooh, that's cool.
Oooh, one day I'll have enough money to buy that.
Ooooh, I have enough money and I bought it.
Oooh, kind of a pain in the butt to assemble before every game and it falls apart when someone bumps it.
Ooh, I'll sell it and try to recoup my money.
...
Ooh, another Dwarven Forge Kickstarter.  That's cool....

Yeah, for me Dwarven Forge is love/hate.  I have a ton of the old resin stuff, and some of the new plastic stuff ---- but I'm very careful to keep away from all of the gimmick stuff that has come out since they started doing Kickstarter.

The basic, robust plastic "core" pieces are great.  The basic "starter set" is an okay value and does a lot of heavy lifting.  Their castle stuff looks awful, and I've been hands on with some of their city town buildings and found them atrociously over-complex.  I appreciate the desire for modularity, but so many failure points, and so wildly expensive to build even a simple cabin.

If they had stuck to basic 2x2 and 4x4 kind of stuff for basic dungeon building I'd probably have a lot more.  lol
