Shipping costs from US to UK, specific examples

It seems to be a US thing. It was cheaper for me to order Old Glory Miniatures (a US company) from the UK than it was to order the same from the US. From the UK: 31.50 GBP (about 38 USD) in postage; 95 USD(!?!?) in postage from Old Glory in the US. Total cost of the orders was 165 USD from the UK vs 221 USD from Old Glory.  Old Glory seems to be the extreme tip of the iceberg when it comes to shipping costs.

So apparently (and just going off a conversation from a couple of years ago), they will give you a refund if your shipping comes in under this - buuut the catch is that the refund is only in Old Glory store credit; keeping you hooked into a cycle
