possibly related to the weight and shipping costs - I have similar inconsistencies when it comes to US - EU shipping. Apparently up to a certain amount it is flatrate (reduced in comparison) and then it explodes. Ebay is very strange when it comes to transatlantic shipping - I would inquire directly

No, it's nothing to do with weight, or shipping or ebay, it was on their website until recently, probably more to do with an inability to solve simples calculations.
