As the question was regarding VSF, are the two things in fact different beasts? Same genus but different species?

Deepest apologies, ole bean. Missed your original question while answering your follow-up.

I know I should have put quotes around 'steampunk' in my example. I was making fun of myself, but I will try to approach it more seriously. In the wise words spoken SO long ago, YMMV.

If I might use the lyrics of the esteemed Sir Reginald Pike-Devant, Esq., Steampunk is an esthetic. He may decry those who approach it lazily, but it may be considered in a sense superficial, playing at manners.

Many gamers approach at same level, and I will say, play on!

I hope my VSF can show a functionality of form that plays a bit deeper. I may not play The Great Game, but it would please me if some my table contretemps suggest it.

This is of interest as we are working on VSF rules currently.
It is not skirmish level but hopefully has all the touch points of Space 1889.
I date back to that period anyway.
Thanks for all the interesting comments, input helps nicely. Here is a pic of a column marching, ready to square up, probably not on Mars though.

Question: Is this considered skirmish level based on the amount of figures?
