Having another go at this. Still mostly about tweaking Feudal Patrol itself (not least to get it to work on a grid....), but gradually adding some Sengoku specific bits.

Looking good!

Do you have enough Sengoku flavoured bits to put together a Samurai Patrol supplement yet?

No, just some bits about organisation and taking heads so far... There's not really that much difference in the nuts and bolts of Sengoku skirmishes to any other medieval skirmish. Stuff like taking heads, first into combat rewards etc are only applicable after the battle. But I'm thinking you have to put them in the game with some kind of immediate reward in order to encourage players to do them.

Thanks.

Having another go. This time river pirates attack a sekisho (toll gate) guarded by a group of ashigaru. The ashigaru turn out to be more numerous than the pirates thought...

This game didn't have any specifically Japanese features. With taking heads and 'first spear' type rewards not very appropriate for this kind of fighting, and without strict feudal relationships, there really isn't much to distinguish the fighting from Western medieval.

Incidentally, I'm still playing the game on a grid instead of using measured movement.
