Painting Mark’s Little Soldiers?
« on: 25 June 2024, 12:55:17 AM »
All,
So I am working on a couple of small armies of Copplestone figures for some gaming with The Portable Wargame.  So far, the figures I’ve done have been varnished with Satin.  I am debating before the number gets too large, if I should go with full Gloss.

I think full gloss lends more charm and nostalgia to the figures - which is Mark's original concept for them.  (Mine are full gloss).  But each to his own !

Which figures do you have, and in what colors have you painted them?

Yes.  Gloss is the only way to go.   ;)

Metternich,
I’m basically using Panovians for both sides.  One army, uses the Panovian Gendarme figures for the infantry, painted as Mark has them, green jacket and cap, blue trousers. The other army uses the basic Panovian infantry figure, painted as Mark has.  Artillery and MGs follow the same color pattern. Cavalry are a bit more colorful.  Unfortunately, the cavalry pack doesn’t include a head in a flat cap, so I’m using the Isebellino head for the green army cavalry.  Haven’t decided on names for the countries as yet.
And yes, I’ve now been giving the figures two coats of varnish.  First a satin coat, then a full gloss coat.
