I ask because I am working in a niche Japanese market, miniature civilians and cityscape items, and am open to related fields in the future. One of my planned projects are Taisho-era haikara women and girls. If there's more than five potential buyers I may be willing to invest in creating Taisho-era soldiers.

For Patrice and others who may have missed Horror Express (1972), it's to-notch back of beyond horror with a glittering constellation of stars!

:o  Thanks I've watched it now (...not sure if the link where I found it has all the rights to show it, but I have not pirated anything).

Yes it's quite funny.  lol

In the 1970's such basic horror films (even with renowned actors) were not popular (or not even understood) in France. Some years later when the horror fashion came to us they were already outdated, and these earlier ones were not shown; that's probably why I hadn't seen it.  ::)

Yes I understood the meaning of your previous question ...that's why I ...very casually and innocently... mentioned this missing niche of Type 45, or M.45 (?) Japanese 28mm soldiers.

Very honestly, I can't answer this question on a commercial level. I play 28mm skirmish and I would be glad to buy a few figures in Japanese Type 45 winter uniform, all individually different and bulky enough to mix with Copplestone and Bob Murch's. But I can't say if there is a market for this.

I have been seriously thinking about, with Taisho miniatures on the horizon I can easily add an army officer into the mix, with or without the winter coat.

Here's something you may be interested in adding to your Manchurian ventures, at least something like it. This is a replica of the Toshin Railway and Shipping Co. (Chinese Eastern Railway) Dalian (Port Arthur) branch that was built in 1902. It was put up by Russia in that brief span of time between the tripartite intervention and Japan getting its lease back after the Russo-Japanese War.

Because of their trade history Dalian and Kitakyushu became friendship cities and in 1994 Dalian gifted this replica building to them.

Wow! Pseudo Tudor meets Gothic Revival. Quite Germanic.
Em dezembro de '81
Botou os ingleses na roda
3 a 0 no Liverpool
Ficou marcado na história
E no Rio não tem outro igual
Só o Flamengo é campeão mundial
E agora seu povo
Pede o mundo de novo

:o  Fascinating. I must think about some large buildings.

Interesting!

BTW there is a very impressive picture of a Japanese officer and soldiers in Siberia in 1920, in Osprey ?The RCW (2) White Armies? page 39.

Perhaps they didn't have enough of a blend of surrealism and/or existentialism like Jean Rollin vampire films?  I am in the [very small] camp of Rollin fans here in America.

I found another one on the net and curiously it shows quite exactly the same dead Bolsheviks with a different group of Japanese soldiers (but same uniforms as on the Osprey pic) and a slightly different background... so one of the pics had been modified, or they were taking turns.

the rights for Horror Express are all over the place, several copies are on Youtube and I think there are two DVD versions...
