Osprey Wargames Series

Hey, dunno if this has been posted before but I have recently been informed that Osprey are set to produce a series of stand alone wargames rules with background and plates. First two listed are dark age Arthurian warfare and Interwar skirmishes.
Looks good and worth a punt I'm guessing. It'll give me another excuse for more dark age miniatures if nothing else

I know PDE (a minion of the Empresses of Empress Miniatures) is doing the Interwar one. He did a good set for VBCW, so I'm guessing these will be an adaptation of those, so I'm looking forward to seeing them.

I quite like the way that Osprey have been delving deeper into wargaming recently and that they are actively seeking out customer input into their ranges.

  A World Aflame: Interwar Wargaming Rules 1918–39 by PDE

There is a 3rd title commissioned... it's secret for now, but I will see what I can do about previewing it on here as soon as, say... the specially commissioned artwork is delivered. Suffice to say, it's not what you might expect from Osprey.

'Glutter of Ravens' was a good attempt at 'Arthurian Wargaming', or at least, how I see it anyway, i.e. small skirmishes between rival warlords and their followers. Add in the stuff that's been written about the period in the last 10+ years and it should be excellent!

@Smith: To be honest I don't currently need more rules sets unless they do something unique or interesting. What I'd really love to see from Osprey are books aimed at helping Wargamers into a period. Average force compositions and tactics, estimated range of colors and styles for clothes/uniforms (especially ancients).

Something I've been wanting to see is one of your battles style books for the Crusades or other medieval/ancient period with as many of the flags, household colors, and other heraldry type stuff that can be found. With troop types and estimates broken down by command.

I like Osprey's stuff, but it's just not THAT useful unless you're already into the period. I've never really read one of the books and walked away feeling that I'm confident to purchase or paint anything.
